The year 2003 was brutal for the new era Bulls

I know this has been discussed ad nauseam, but please allow me to vent.

1. The Jay Williams motorcycle accident. We don't know how good he would've become, but it seemed as if he was turning a corner once we scrapped the triangle offense. I was a big critic of his coming out of Duke, but he showed me some things. PGs and post players are the hardest spots to fill, and we lost a potentially good one for nothing.

2. The fake run we went on during the 2nd half of the 2002-03 season was fool's gold. We won 30 games, and thought we had turned the corner, only to fall flat on our faces in 2003-04. We also played our way out of a top 6 pick in the loaded 2003 draft. A few more losses, and Dwyane Wade is a Bullie. I don't know how the other JWill and DWade would've played together, but I'd take it over Ben and Kirk.

With JWill and DWade, we surely wouldn't have had the #3 pick in the '04 draft, but we still probably get a lottery pick, and Phoenix still probably makes the trade which landed us Luol Deng.

And I'm sure the Eddy Curry trade still goes down.

Damn. Everything CAN change in the blink of an eye.

Forgive me for digging up buried skeletons.

Had Jay Williams never crashed his motorcycle that night, He could have crashed his motorcycle the following night, smashing into Eddy Curry's scooter and ending Baby-Shaq's career.
Had the Bulls kept losing big during the 2nd half of the 02/03 season, we could have had Darko Milicic.

Or he never may have crashed it at all.

You could be right about Darko. Although, maybe we could've had Lebron if we continued to go in the tank.

A lot of things could've happened. I'm just lamenting the fact things played out pretty badly for us.

I should have the "woe is me" sentiment out of my system by Monday.

Forward it to the 3:50 minute mark!

Eddy Curry = the Curb.

2006 wasn't such a great year either. That was the year when David Stern instituted for the first time a ban on 18 year olds entering the draft. Had he not done so, it is likely both Kevin Durant and Greg Oden would have entered right out of high school

Instead of Portland and Seattle choosing between the two, it would have been Toronto and the Bulls. We would likely now have Durant in his second season, rather than TT.

that is a good point - if we got Durant - then we could have traded Deng and whomever for gasol.
