That seems to be the case. The "Magic" clause in the refs' rulebook.

To be fair though, this has happened before to other teams... but in the Donaghy era.

yap, it was a horribly officiating for both sides during the game. I think that offensive foul on Yao will be in my memory for a long time, I couldn't believe my eyes when they called him for that. And then that last second... man, they had the fricking replay frame by frame... unbelievable. In the last years this league is becoming dominated by discussions about the refs, if the league executives don't understand why they should watch these last 48 minutes of basketball to see if that opens their eyes. I've seen amateur refs in domestic euro leagues doing better jobs on controlling the game.

Believe me bro Yao gets a lot of those calls all the time.
The last tip imo was too close to call really , you can call it wither way but NO WAY IN HELL you don't count the basket in that situation , thats was really a bad bad call.
I feel bad for you guys but the Rockets really needed this win.

On a serious note, nothing is more frustrating then watching a team coast most of a game only to come out and play at the very end. The Magic could have turned it up and taken control of this game from the start, however they chose not too.

Why is it that the team is so complacent and ok with coasting through games? We need more winners on this team, this is getting ridiculous.

Guys let's be honest with ourselves. We didn't deserve to win this game. We got a bad call at the end, but to be fair, we were only there because of a sudden late run. We didn't play well at all, and we drew up what was to be honest a bad plan for the last play.

I watch a few Rockets games (not a fan, specially not a T-Mac fan ;) ) because unlike 99% of the league I'm not a Yao hater and I wanted him to do good in this league since his debut, so yes, I know he's probably the player in the NBA that gets less respect from the refs. He gets hacked in half of his plays and gets called for breathing. In his first year it was really absurd to watch the way he was treated like a freak that couldn't use any part of his body to play the game.

^ you're right, but it just sucks to go out like that, i'd rather the magic players suck at the end so we can blame it on them rather than the refs...

Makes no difference. Do the last 2 minutes of a game not count?

I agree we played like **** (again!), but we worked our asses of to get back at the end, so we did deserve to at least go to overtime.

It always sucks when the refs decide the game, but the players still have to be blamed, and you can bet SVG will not shy away from doing so.

Okay, OT... they still had Yao, we would be missing Dwight. We'd have the homecourt advantage, but that does nothing for us these days. The refs would still be the dumbasses they always are.

You know something, the "we didn't deserve to win" statement is such a bunch of crap. THE GAME IS 48 MINUTES. And the last 6 minutes are part of those 48 minutes. If the game was 42 minutes, THEN the Magic wouldn't deserve to win. Not every game is won staying in front of the opponent the whole time.

If we didn't deserve to win the game, and Houston only wins by 2 points, then how the HELL does Houston deserve to win it? This kind of logic is idiotic. The score at the end of the game doesn't measure effort, if we suck and we can still win it, then we still deserve the win more than the other team, who is obviously sucking worse than we are.

Houston was folding like an umbrella in the last 5 minutes of the game. They posted up Yao every time down, and he either turned it over or they bricked the shots. We had the upper hand going in to the OT, even without Dwight. How the hell does Houston deserve anything at all.
