In the context of this trade, he's completely right.

If we are doing a minor trade then picking up a big guard is a much bigger priority than a big man.

We need an all-star big man. A journeyman big man would just further muck up our roster with similar options.

A big shooting guard who's decent, but not great, would still fill a void for us.

That being said, I haven't watched the Hornets this year yet, so I have no idea how Peterson is playing. My gut tells me that if the Hornets are willing to do this trade that we likely want no part of it.

do you know anything about Mo Pete's production this year?

He's been inconsistent at times, but his production is about what everyone was expecting.

Peterson is our fifth option on offense. He's an average player receiving an average salary.(the mid-level being the average NBA player's salary) Statistically, he produces the average amount one would expect a Shooting Guard to produce per minute.

He's also producing exactly what could be expected from him. After their 4th year, most players have generally established their average. Peterson is in his 8th year and here is his production:

This season:
41.7% FG 37.2% 3pt 84.2% FT 3.2 Rebounds, .92 Steals, .58 Turnovers, 1.73 Fouls, 1.1 Assists, and 9.2 Points in 25.2 Minutes.

His Career Stats:
42.1% FG 37.1% 3pt 78.4% FT 3.8 Rebounds, 1.01 Steals, 1.14 Turnovers, 2.45 Fouls, 1.7 Assists and 11.5 Points in 29.4 Minutes

Surprise. They are essentially the same. We wanted a guy who could defend and stick 3-pointers at a decent clip. That's what Mo does. He was a good signing and certainly isn't at risk of being traded anytime soon. He loves it in NO as well, and the fans/community have embraced him.

You could even Swap V.K. for Thabo and see if they'd throw in a pick.

Duhon goes back home and becomes C.P's back-up. V.K. or Thabo may blossom in Byron Scott's system.

I would rather some other starting SG than Mo Pete. Do not know why, but have never been a fan.

they aren't looking to trade Mo. he and peja are working well together.

i won't be surprised if they look to trade him in the final year of his contract, but despite the 6 or so game slump he's had before last night game against gs, he's been playing well, and has had some clutch moments.

the starters on the hornets are actually the most efficient after the celtics five, but that probably has a little to do with the HORRIBLE bench, but they also have great chemistry.

he's a good vet, but he's not needed by the bulls. he has size over duhon, but the hornets shouldn't be looking to trade him. they just signed him. and so far the hornets are 22-11, one game behind world champion Spurs, and tied for 3rd in the west.

his defense is much better this year though. so he's not a liability when his his shot isn't falling. they are such a fun team to watch, and i don't think they want to disrupt the starting five. the bench though...dear god help them!

We couldn't trade for Mo anyway. He's just too expensive with all our luxury concerns. Well, we couldn't trade Mo for Duhon and VK, because they're expiring. I would trade Smith for Mo, though.

the bulls don't have enough post presence. why would you want a streaky shooter, you have enough of those?

smith may be a stop gap, but you still need some kind of post presence to get back into the playoff race, and in reality, i think you guys can get into the playoffs. after boston, detroit and orlando, everyone else is play .500 ball.

It's a pity what happened to Butler. He really had talent but never did anything with it, and hasn't improved much beyond the usual, "I'm getting older and stronger and, without trying to be, smarter"-stuff. The guy is going to 28 this spring, and he should be enjoying his prime. Instead ... bleh.

He hasn't played in two games in a row. He does boast some nifty "45" wristbands.

I would have loved to have gotten Mo Pete in here during the offseason. Raja Bell would be better b/c he defends better, but Peterson is still a tall SG who can defend decently -- well, not so great any more but probably better than Gordon against big 2s-- and can shoot the 3. Given that I would like to see BG play PG more often and just work through his issues there (and I don't care about making the playoffs this year) I would give up Duhon and Khryapa for Mo.

But New Orleans wouldn't do it; they just made a big pitch to sign him this offseason, and he's not playing worse than they could have expected. Why would they undo that now?
