Headbands? We don't need no stinkin' Headbands!

Wiretap

Arizona Republic -
A day after his team scored 13 points in the first quarter against the struggling Seattle SuperSonics , Mike D'Antoni recommended significant changes, starting at the top.

"Our offense was so bad it was mind-boggling," the Suns coach said. "I really think it was the headbands. We're going without them. Whoever made that decision should be fired."

Managing Partner Robert Sarver wasn't at Friday's practice, but that may have just been a coincidence. The Suns wore orange headbands for a retro celebration Thursday, but D'Antoni said he told his team to ditch them after the first quarter, so fans shouldn't expect a repeat fashion show Saturday against the Hornets at US Airways Center. Yeah that will fix the problems with the Sonics. :nonono:

i never understood why some coaches refuse to let their players wear headbands. it has no effect on the coaching or the team in general so why they care is beyond me.

So funny , the Suns like to blame everything and everybody about their game , from the officials , to their headbands .
Whats next , all the hot girls in the stands ?
How about , lets start with the coaching staff .

When you play as hard as NBA players do, you sweat. A lot. And, that sweat most of the time trickles down all over your face and into your eyes, burning them to death. I don't wear headbands, but I damn near burn my eyes every time I play basketball. Some guys grab towels every 5 minutes and wipe their face, others wear headbands. You can't fault someone for wearing one.

I took a peak at that game and saw Diaw wearing a headband and I was like "When did Diaw start wearing a headband?" And this was in the second half.

Someone sold Darrell Armstrongs chewed gum on ebay once, they were talking about it during a Pacers televised game.

In my personal experience, I have played basketball with a headband (as a joke), and then also played for years without a headband. I have had long hair, short hair, no hair, everything in between. I have found almost zero difference in the amount of sweat that gets in your eyes. when your flying around, playing hard, sweat isn't going to be conveniently stopped by a thin cotton band around your forehead.

Look, I really don't care if guys want to wear it for looks... but the idea that they provide some useful impact is just ludicrous.
