Happy Birthday Pass
This is going to be a tough one for us to win, I really dont think we have been playing wel enough the past few games to win this one unless we are on, Rondo's shot has been off, Ray has been off, Perk hasnt done a whole lot, we are coming in out of rythem, if they are on and we are off, we lose, if both are on, coin flip.
For the first time this season I am going to predict a loss, i dont want to, but we are on teh 2nd night of a back to back and we have looked sluggish on those all season. Detriot is at home, and they have something to prove to the leage still. This game does have meaning, if we lose it we lose a big edge in the tiebreaker if there is a tie in final records at the end of the season, we dont want to do that. Still i see detriot winning by 4, up by 1 with a minute left and adding 3 meaningless ft's

I'm no pats fan, but if the Giants and Pats played 100 times, this current NE team beats this eli manning led Giant team the majority of the time by a large margin, but like we all know, some games certain teams are just on and others aren't quite up to par.
Well, what do I say this? The only player I worry about on Detroit is Chauncey "I actively try to CREATE FOULS rather than good looks for myself" Billups, and in the first meeting with the pistons, Perkules and Big Baby played like functioning retards. Both were horrendous, but going further McDyess was making rain from 20ft (sure he's a good shooter, but he was absolutely on this night), detroit shot an uncharacteristic 45% from 3 (up from their usual 37), the c's shot 62% on 21 ft attempts, and hopefully doc realized Eddie House cannot handle full court pressure under any circumstance.
Sure Tayshaun brought nothing to the table, but I think this was more his offense/defense matchup with paul than anything.
If we get anything from our 5s, detroit shoots a more manageable clip from 3, the c's hit their fts, and the officials don't call such a mismatched game between chauncey/rondo (rest of the poorly officiated game on boths sides didn't bother me as it is the reoccurring theme of the decade) that rajon starts losing his mind and it is another celtics 10pt victory.
Detroit is a good team. The celtics are better.

I found this interesting post on the Pistons board:
bstein14 wrote:When the 28-3 Celtics meet the 26-7 Pistons, the teams will take the floor with a combined winning percentage of .844. There have been only two regular season games since the NBA adopted the shot clock for the 1954-55 season where the two teams, who have played at least a minimum of 30 games, have had better combined winning percentages than the Celtics and the Pistons will Saturday before tipoff:
Jan. 9, 1972: Los Angeles Lakers (39-3) at Milwaukee Bucks (35-8 )
Combined winning percentage: .871
Dec. 28, 1966: Boston Celtics (25-7) at Philadelphia 76ers (33-3)
Combined winning percentage: .853
Two. In the entire shot-clock era, dating all the way back to 1954.
As noted earlier, those Lakers, who had their record 33-game win streak snapped that night by the Bucks, and those Sixers went on to win titles. This is exclusive company, company the Celtics and the Pistons wouldn't mind keeping.
The NBA hasn't seen a regular season matchup of teams this accomplished in a decade, when the 34-4 Chicago Bulls -- who would (notice a theme?) go on to win the title -- met the 30-9 Rockets on Jan. 19, 1997.
Statistically the biggest regular season game in 36 years!

It really a shame its not on national TV... This would probably be one of the highest rated regular season games since the MJ Bulls.
well said brother bear, instead i'll be streaming a feed with asian audio as I flick between the Jags/Steelers and Kingpin/Rounders which will suffice but could have been much more magical.
***eff it, Cs/Pistons >>>> Jax/Pits, the nation should recognize.

Home court advantage in the East is up for grabs. The big tiebreaker between Boston and Detroit for spot number 1.
I can use just one word to separate the teams, coaching.
I really don't think home court advantage is that big of a deal to the Pistons.
They've been one of the best road teams in the NBA for years.
None of Detroit's starters are top 40 in MPG... we're more concerned with developing our bench and being fresh and ready for a playoff run.

I also noticed one more thing. The team who had the better record going into those match ups won the title in those years.SuperDeluxe wrote:I found this interesting post on the Pistons board:
