Doc subs by situation.
Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Tony Allen and Eddie House average 41 ppg, 11 rpg, and 10 apg.
Doc adjusts for offense and defense based on who is playing well in each particular game.
I do think having a 5th guard option would allow 2 of the current 4 rotation guards to have an off night.
Playing Tony will save Ray's legs the next few seasons, also.
Believe it or not, Pruitt may be the 5th guard. Getting someone better than Pruitt is not as easy as you think, when your trade chips are second round # 60 picks, Leon Powe, Brian Scalabrine, the 2011 First Round Pick, and $3 million cash.
So, the 5th guard is likely Pruitt, who would take Scal or Powe's place on the active roster.

great players want to win every game, right?
shouldn't great GMs want to do all they can to eliminate their team's every weakness? The Cs have some roster space open. It would be nice to get another 7 footer or close to it, as well, in case some one goes down. I hope DA doesn't stop trying to create the perfect team, especially when there are people like GP, and probably a lot others, who would like to join the Cs.

Posey.
Adding or developing big-man talent would help on the perimeter by freeing him to play there more.
Anyhow, irrespective of position, we have 9 solid rotation players -- the starters, plus Posey, House, Tony and, it seems, Big Baby.
If I could ideally add a good backup, it would be at the 5, making Pollard the #3 center. If KG played 0 minutes at the 5, and Davis continued to play well, then Posey could play 0 minutes at the 4, and then people would be worrying about our perimeter glut again, not saying there was any kind of guard shortage.

Rondo and Allen aren't getting it done? LOL.
How many minutes is this other guard going to play? Rondo and Ray Allen can each easily play 33-36 a night. That leaves, 24-30 minutes for the backups. House and Tony Allen can play 30 minutes combined pretty easily.
Unless you have some brilliant idea to acquire a guard who is significantly better than House or Tony Allen (or Rondo or Ray as you seem to want), why bother?

have you watched tony allen bring the ball up? what more evidence do you need? we need another ball handler, if they can shoot or defend big guards so much the better but the main thing is ball handling- someone who can get the second unit going and push the ball and create shots.

I don't get the Tony Allen at PG thing at all. His handle is atrocious.
id rather see them put paul there and put po-z at the 3
crunchg time lineup:
Pierce
Ray
Posey
Garnett
Perk
it would be a very slow half court offense but its better then TA turning it over every 1 out of 3 times he brings it up

Why can't Rondo play in crunch time? He doesn't turn it over, he makes good decisions, he's the best PG defender on the team.
The backup PG should only be playing 12 minutes a night.

What lumps, though? He's just a poor FT-shooter which is the only reason to not have him out there in crunch time. But that's just in rare occasions where the other team is intentionally fouling at the end of the game.
It's gonna be the Big 4 by the end of the year.

23 points tonight - and he can be had for Scabs probably. Come on Scabs isn't doing anything for us.
