will portland win 40?

Post#1 » by thaAteam » Sun Jan 6, 2008 5:27 am

They have had a good december, but to be realistic they arent a very good team and they sure wont make the playoffs so will they win 40 games this season?

19-29 the rest of the way gets them 40 wins, so yes. I'd say they get 45-50.

Still arguing we are not good? We are still a young team, of course we will start off bad. I must ask, who is your favorite team?

No of course not, the Mavs didn't start out 0-4 the year they won 67.

You've never seen a young team start to click during a season? Did you just start following sports this year?

their is a big difference between the 1st 4 games and through 17, they didnt beat any good teams to speak of in that stretch except for beating up on the jazz so when the schedule gets tough they will come back down to earth

The Bulls went 3-9 to start last year and won 49 games.

What stretch are you speaking of? Anyway I am going to name teams we have beaten that are good: the Pistons, Mavericks, Hornets (twice), Nuggets (twice), Jazz (3x), Warriors, Raptors. So obvisouly we have beaten some good teams. It is okay you will get over this loss soon.

Give the Blazers some props, man. So far this year, they beat Utah three times, Denver twice, New Orleans twice, G-State, Dallas, and Detroit.

Those aren't good teams?

EDIT: EGame just beat me to it. :banghead:

It's hard to say with the way they're playing right now it's possible the Blazers are 16-4 over their last 20 games.

The Blazers clearly aren't on the level of say San Antonio or Dallas and I didn't but their streak at first, and well to be honest I'm still not sure if I do but... To dismiss that they don't have the potential to win 40+ games is dumb. Portland is a much better team than anyone expected (however if they do make the playoffs I'm going to be honest and say that they do not make it out of the first round. Some people might kill me for this but just like Raptors fans had to learn the hard way that playoff experience does matter in a playoff series when the Raptors lost to a more experienced Nets squad Blazers fans are going to learn the same thing - if the Blazers continue at their current pace and make the playoffs).

I guess my main reason for still having doubts about the Blazers is that prior to their elongated streak they were pretty terrible (they posted a 5-10 record in November add in their one game in October and that's a record of 5-11 over the first 20% of the season)...

the bulls play in the east, to think they will win 45 to 50 is down rite stupid when teams like dallas, san antonio, phoenix, new orleans, denver, golden state, la lakers, and a healthy utah and houston team is better then portland so if those teams will win atleast 45 their is that many more wins to go around

Last year, the Raptors went 5-10 in the first month of the season. They finished 47-35.

So to answer your question, yes, the Blazers can win over 40 games this season... Even after stumbling at the beginning of the season.

Stop being so bitter thaAteam, you're just making yourself look silly.

first off this is a classic hater post.

Of those 12 losses right off the bat:
2 losses to SAS in SA
1 loss to Dal in Dal
1 loss to NO in NO
1 loss to Den in Den
1 loss to Orl in Orl

But for Den which is pretty much at the same record those are all very good teams this year that much of the NBA would lose to on the road. The start of the season wasnt great but if you look at who the faced and their youth it wasnt that bad of a record.

I believe we lost the first 3 road games. Came home and beat the Hornets, Griz, Mavs and Pistons in that order. 3 of those teams are on the top of the league.
