The go to guy on the Celtics right now is Garnett. However if you switch them then the go to guy would probably be Pierce. With Jefferson replacing KG, I think they would be 8th possibly..out of the playoff race.

Garnett is not the go to guy.

I don't think they would have been a real competitor for the east. Their defense wouldn't be good enough to win a playoff series against some of the better teams, like Detroit.

They'd still likely be the division leaders, but obviously nowhere as good, my guess would be a 4/5th seed

Garnett is absolutely huge for our defense, I agree, but we can't give him all of the credit in that department. I think our defense would have been average - good if we didn't have Garnett (because of Tom)..

well the celtics beat the pistons tonight so that should shut some people up about how good they are. this team looks like they might be able to get the 70 win mark. if big baby can continue to produce it makes the bench alot better.

Even still, Jefferson is a negative on defense, and then they couldn't have signed Posey, they'd still have Green, Telfair, and Gomes (the latter of which they would actually be playing major minutes). Average, maybe, but I think it's a little optimistic.
