Wasn't it strange that Boylan brought Wallace in with about 90 seconds left? It's almost like he wanted to leave Tyrus out there but believes Wallace is entitled to play at the end of games or doesn't want to upset him.

It told me that either he doesn't trust Tyrus, or he's shopping Wallace. IMO, its actually more likely to be the 2nd. B/c you coulda put Gray in, an actual offensive player. Or Noah, who's plainly better. No, I think BW was in there, to prove he is NOT a liability at the end of games, and it worked PERFECTLY. He got the go ahead FT, and the game-winning block.

I dunno, I just remember Wallace coming in, and Tyrus leaving. Whether it was a direct substitution, I'm also unsure.

According to ESPN's play by play, my recollection that Wallace subbed in for Tyrus with 90 seconds left (actually 97) is correct.

Your right. Wallace substiuted in for Tyrus when Gordon was shooting free throws.

I disagree.

1) We don't need to play Ben Wallace to shop him. People already know what he can do and not do.

2) If Paxson mandated that we play Wallace to shop him then it'd have an equal chance of having a negative effect. If he plays bad still then his value would go down more.

3) Even if Paxson did mandate that we play Wallace to shop him, then Boylan would have to do that, but he wouldn't choose to throw him in a game in a crucial situation.

It's just FAR, FAR more believable that Boylan just trusts Wallace a hell of a lot more in this situation than he trusts Tyrus.

I'd be willing to give Thabo a shot. The worst case scenario is he plays like Du is playing now, even then at least we're not starting a midget backcourt and Gordon will come in for him after about six minutes anyway. The best case scenario is he regains his confidence and finally gets a spot in the rotation as our big guard.

Looking at it from a risk-reward perspective the risk is minimal while the potential reward is huge.

i enjoyed this game. not only did we come out w/ the win. (even though they were w/ out bibby, artest and martin) the kids got their min.

This game followed the same pattern as previous games in regards to the kids though.

Noah barely played ( 2 minutes ), and Tyrus got to stay on the floor because he played, really, really, really well. Even then, Tyrus had the best stat line of our big men outside of Nocioni perhaps, yet Joe Smith played 31 minutes and Ben Wallace played 33 minutes vs Tyrus's 23 minutes.

It was nice to see Tyrus get time, and I was happy about that, but I would have liked to see Tyrus get more time or Noah to get a larger chunk of time as well.
