Welcome to Toronto Arenas !!!

Post#1 » by yeehamasai » Sun Jan 6, 2008 9:25 pm

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Toronto and Washington being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Toronto and Washington had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Instead of letting him go through free agency we can do a trade at the deadline. Calderon is a young and promising pg while rasho is old atleast washington is not giving him up for anything.

What do you guys think?

Oh dear.

If you're going to diminish Arenas' value because he's a free agent, you have to do the same for Calderon. This ain't nearly enough any way you slice it. Washington doesn't even take your call; terrible, terrible offer.

What a ridiculously terrible deal for the Wizards. At least throw Bargnani and a pick along with Calderon.

Terrible trade for Raptors. Add Butler and Jamison and its more fair.

Give me a break.

It doesn't really make sense. Obviously its far from enough for Arenas, but with TJ injured and possibly retiring, how can we trade our only PG for someone who's injured for a long time as well.

It's not that bad for Washington. They get Calderon for Arenas who's opting out at the end of the year, and injured for the year. They could just go out and sign him in the off season...

HAHAHA!

Just because it works in the trade checker doesn't mean it'll work in real life :)

I'm sorry, but yes, it is that bad for Washington.

Are you kidding me?

Honestly you're joking, right?

And how in the world could they just go out and sign Gil when you will be at the salary cap limit this offseason!

This deal is about on par with me offering Blatche for Bosh.

Exactly.

Here's an idea that might at least make the Wizard's think for longer than 5 seconds before declining...

Rasho Nesterovic
Andrea Bargnani
Jorge Garbajosa
Jose Calderon
Raptors 1st Round Pick 2008 (Top 5 Protected, Unprotected in 09)

for

Gilbert Arenas
Etan Thomas

The original poster on this thread (and he's not the only one) did something that I think is stupid.

Please for the love of God quit all this lazy cut & paste posting from the trade checker, it's a pain in the ass to read the formatting that way and shows disrespect to not only the reader but the lack of value you place in your own idea(s).

The trade itself sucks too.

Washington wouldn't do it and Toronto wouldn't either they would flat out suck without a true PG.

Washington wouldn't trade Arenas for anything less then Bosh and thats not going to happen since Toronto would never trade big for small.

:jawdrop:

Really? I'd think a lineup of Arenas/Parker/Moon/Bosh/Bargnani would kick.

We'd decline that about as quickly.

Trust me when I say nothing short of Bosh would be an acceptable offer.

First of all you have to include Bargnani in any deal involving Arenas thats a given. So he wouldn't be in the lineup and Arenas could walk this offseason for nothing Toronto wouldn't do this deal to let that happen. Washington also wouldn't trade Arenas for spares either.

Arenas isn't a true PG he has playmaking ability but isn't a guy who is a pass first guard. Sure he's a great combo guard but he's also due for a huge fat contract do you think Toronto wants to pay a guy like him $15+ million? I am sure thats the figure he would be looking for. He's not a good fit in Toronto as he needs to be the #1 option and Toronto has Bosh.

Bosh will not be traded for Arenas thats a huge no from Toronto as good as Arenas is Bosh is a guy who is signed to a great contract and a core peice and actually wants to be here. Only way we trade Bosh is for Caron and Arenas for Bosh and like Kopono.

^ I assumed you were referring to the OP, which was just Calderon/Rasho for Arenas.

It'd be like a WAS fan turning down Bosh for Jamison/Blatche because they need Blatche's defense.
