We had our chance-- thats what a #1 pick is for.. We basically got nothing from those years we sucked.. that Charlie and Joey draft, Aruajo, Bargs... we had all the chances a team could want to draft high and pick up a valuable piece and we didn't produce, simple as that..
Seeing as we don't have any high draft picks in the forseeable future, we really need to concentrate on smart free agent signings and trades..
Forget teamwork, we need a Superstar.

Last time I checked we aren't anymore. Welcome to .500.
Spurs had Duncan with the 1st pick, draft gems in Ginobili and Parker..
Suns had draft gems in Marion and Amare, signed Nash...
Pistons signed everyone, and they weren't exactly young when they got together...
We drafted Bosh, thats it. Bargs hasn't panned out yet, TJ's future is in doubt, and we don't know how good Jose will be.. Not exactly a stud core to build around, although we do benefit by playing in the East...

That excuse never worked for Babcock. He was a crappy GM, but he was working towards the Ainge route of young prospects and cap space. Now Ainge looks like a genius, and everyone thought he was garbage.
So how long do we wait to become a legit playoff competitor? Shouldn't a genius like BC be able to do it quicker? He has had cap space, an AllStar, and a #1 overall pick.
I'm not saying blow it up, but all this "wait wait" stuff was derided by the same posters a couple years ago.

I think we're witnessing possibly the first season where Bosh has legitimately struggled. I've been on this board for 4 years and haven't questioned Bosh's desire, tendency to settle, heart, etc. once until this season. Thing is, we still have more than half of the season left so he has more than enough time to turn his season around. Hopefully he does, because without him playing aggressively we aren't going nowhere.

The question is, where the effort to improve the team would be more profitable. I think that would be where the team is currently more deficient, i.e. defence.

Its so easy to see. Why don't people watch the game? Without TJ defenses stay tight on the perimeter because there is no one who can get in the lane. What that means is out perimeter shooters have contested shots all night.

While I obviously agree that having TJ back would help the team a lot, why is it that no matter what the situation is you always come to the same conclusion?

It would be better to improve defense, but against Lebron, we had no answer. Smitch should have just doubled Lebron, but that's too much.

You guys are complete morons! BC turned this franchise around in a year and a half, look at some other franchises and see if the same can be said. Under Babcock we were the laughing stock of the entire association.

It's T.J. Ford, man. He is that important to this team. I think Bryan Colangelo is hoping Andrea Bargnani can be that guy. I just don't see the frontcourt working well together b/c there both big men who play like 3's, so they can be stopped by putting smaller players on them. See Richard Jefferson on Bosh, or just recently, Bonzi Wells on Andrea Bargnani. Coaches can stop these guys. T.J. Ford on the other hand is very difficult to contain and can absolutely take over a game w/ his speed. Needless to say, we need T.J. back.

Just look at the front court help Bosh has. A number one pick who needs a motivational speech by the coach to grab 3 rebounds and a small forward out of the CBA.
Bosh is a good player, but relies too heavily on drawing contact. His back to the basket game is also pretty weak. We need to surround him with a defensive C and an experienced SF who can take the load off of him and defend. He needs vets to win, just like Garnett and Pierce. There is a good reason we keep choking against bad and good teams. Rasho and Garbo are sorely missed in our rotation period.
One thing Bosh does deserve blame for is shooting 43% from the field. Does that sound like a power forward that draws double and triple teams? He needs to start being more efficient and stop stalling the offense. Sometimes he plays the power forward spot too much like a small forward.
Hopefully it doesn't take an extended injury to figure out how terrible we are without him like it did with TJ (we would probably set records for fewest rebounds and trips to the line).
