Michael Redd for Arenas???

Post#1 » by yunggunz » Mon Jan 7, 2008 12:40 am

Some filler/picks would have to be added, but could this be a deal that makes a lot of sense?

Washington has been doing very well without Arenas, and if you throw Redd into the mix, they are probably the third best team out east. This salvages their season with Arenas threatening not to come back.

Milwaukee gets the better player in the deal, and let him take the year off so he comes back fully healthy next year (and if he doesnt play this season....will he honestly opt out of his contract??). Milwaukee also tanks it, and if they can get Beasley in the draft would look very solid with

Mo Williams
Gilbert Arenas
Beasly
Yi
Bogut

All of those guys are young and have great futures.

Way to big of a risk for the Bucks to touch this in my opinion. Some Bucks fans may look at this differently though.

I think the Bucks would need to play with two balls if they had Arenas, Mo Williams, and Beasley. Maybe 3.
I mean, I would still make the deal if I were them, but then probably wouldn't look Beasley's way in the draft. I dunno.

Wizards decline. Don't need Redd at all, and definitely not at the expense of our best player. Gilbert would leave Milwaukee anyway.

A lot of people in Milwaukee still want this season salvaged, so taking on a player that might not play this year by also giving up our best player doesnt make a whole lot of sense.

Wizards hang up the phone on Milwaukee. They probably do not care if Arenas opts out or not because to be honest, they play better without him. Look, Michael Redd is almost unable to be traded because he has 4years and nearly 60 million left on his deal. No team wants to commit that much money to a player for that long.

Get this through you heads people! Arenas isn't going anywhere! The Wizards don't feel the slightest bit of pressure to deal him. He is not going to be traded at a discount. He is not going to be traded at all!

Right now, the Wizards have a solid core of players. They have a pair of all-star forwards, a top 10 center, a solid pure PG, and a defensive-minded SG who can hit an open shot. The one thing they lack is a transcendent scorer who can create his own shot when the offense bogs down. As luck would have it, they have a guy like that on injured reserve. His name is Gilbert Arenas.

Arenas might have to alter his role a little bit when he comes back, but believe me, he is EXACTLY the kind of player the Wizards need to improve from "solid" to "contender". The Wizards don't have the slightest interest in trading him.
