When your team suffers a loss

Post#1 » by Illuminati » Mon Jan 7, 2008 2:38 am

Do you either

A) Move on
B) Cry about it and move on
C) Scream and pout and talk about rebuilding?

Some fans are too passionate about the game, if losing is a part of the game why do they want someones head after every loss?

So how do YOU deal with a loss (We all know how Raptor fans deal with losses I'm talking about the rest of you).

I'm extremely passionate when we lose (which has been pretty common this season). I usually go off in long rants on the Rockets board about how we won't make the playoffs. It's not real sadness but more frustrated and angry after a loss.

It's different with different teams IMO. Like last season, if we lost, just hope to bounce back and normally in the regular season we did. Like Spurs, Mavs and Suns fan, I'm sure feel sad/mad after a loss but move on pretty quickly because they know their team will be there in the end. Really varies on what team you root for IMO.

Also depends on what team you lose to.

As a Celt's fan, when the team lost to Orlando- it was pretty big because it was the first loss of the season. At the same time, I felt Orlando played great, while the C's didn't, so it wasn't to big a deal.

Against Cleveland, I thought- Ray Allen misses 2 consecutive free throws down the stretch- it's all good because I felt that we could beat them in a 7 game series. But, you always have to be careful with a team who has a player as good as Lebron.

Against the Pistons, it was a loss that while not completely expected was reasonable. What I was really interested in, was how the Celts bounced back against an elite team in the Pistons.

So, with the Celts, I'd same I'm pretty calm if we lose, because I feel like the team can bounce back when they need to.

Trade Bosh, Bargnani is a failure, Colangelo should be fired, team is too euro, team is too soft, shoot to many jumpers, not enough FTs, Parker should retire, Moon should go back to the CBA, need TJ back, need Garbo back because he is teh glueness, Rasho should NBA, Joey needs more minutes, Salmons not signing is god's fault, Sam sucks, Kapono is overpaid, Chuck is a homer, Bosh needs to stop making youtube videos, next game is a loss, the rest of the season is a loss, cannot succeed in playoffs, should have drafted everyone in the 06 draft instead of Bargnani, why didn't we draft Yi, Hoffa is a bust, could have had Iggy, Aldridge's stat line tonight, I don't like Bosh's facial hair, should have taken Jamison over Carter, Delfino is emo, Bosh has peaked, Bosh is a bust, Craptors, wont make the playoffs, blow leads, Ruben Patterson plz, BRING BACK OAKLEY, I wish we sucked again, sweetest Raptor?, hawtest Raptor?, Contender? GTFO n00b, Rudy Gay!!!, BUSTNANI LOL!, Mop girl demoted to towel girl?, etc...

That pretty much sums up an average loss on the Raptors Board. It could vary depending on point differential, blown leads, Bargnani's rebounds, Aldridge's stat line, Darrick Martin's PT, and mop girl appearances

Hardcore fans that were watching their teams for years can generally take losses much easier than bandwagon fans IMO..

as a laker fan, whenever we lose I dont watch ESPN for that day or the following. I dont watch any highlights and don't go on realgm. I try to avoid anything basketball related until the next game is on. I go to work in a bad mood the following morning, dont talk to people except a few laker fans and we talk about what happened, etc. It's like a death in the family.

I don't watch ESPN and depending on my mood I avoid realgm. After playoff loses it's generally worse.

I being a Sixer fan want us to lose. So when we lose, I start looking forward to Beasley or Rose in a Sixer uni even though I know we're winning too much to get either of those two.

However, when we had Iverson, I would be more of a rant person, but I wouldn't be that bad unless it was one where we made a lot of mistakes because there are 82 games.

I'm pretty bad when it comes to football though. You only play 16 games so your mistakes are more magnified. Man was I mad after the Saints lost to the Bucs on that botched reverse toss.
