The Real Reason We Lost...Rebounding
Don't blame this lose on individual players, or even more ridiculous, fans in the stands.
It's been our story for awhile now. We need better rebounders, and don't think BC doesn't know this. And we don't just need it in one position, we need to get it from all positions, 1 to 5.
We got out-rebounded 52 to 33, that's a 19 rebound differential, when you get out-rebounded by 10 it's an embarrassment. What's even worse is that they had 20 offensive rebounds to our 5, just horrible.
Our rebounding has been good at time this year, but then we have games like this, and more often than not, when we get more rebounds than the other team we usually win.
You can see it in BC's face and reactions when we lose games like this, he wants to win as much as everyone else and I know that he'll address this issue sooner rather than later.
Defense and rebounding were our main issues when BC got here. He's addressed for the most part our defense, now it's time for our rebounding to improve.

Centre Court wrote:Agreed. Which is why Sam's decision to go small in the 4th quarter made no sense at all.
I think for a few reasons. Number one, when Humps did come in (in the first half), he got abused by Big Z on the switch, and they were looking to exploit it. It wasn't the missed free throws (although they probably p*ssed the Smitch off).
Cleveland's game plan was quite good. They knew we couldn't guard them off the bounce or in the deep post. So they would get it in there and then send two rebounders to the weak side when we came with the help D.
In the first half, we were able to bother Lebron by sending so many guys he was having the ball poked loose. In the second, Mike Brown just decided to let Bron Bron go one on one and dominate the ball, thus killing us.
In the first half, the boards were only 25-21 Cleveland.
Cleveland made a nice adjustment to what we were doing, and we couldn;t handle their size or their rebounding on the weakside.
The problem is, we are a small team anyway. Bosh is too small for Z, Gooden is bigger than Moon, Bron is bigger than anybody on the floor...
They are just bigger, period. I think when Bron started picking up those threes early they should have brought Joey out for the three (to at least try to make Lebron drive into some tougher shots.)
They also should've kept Bargs on the floor--whether it was just as a decoy or not. Because at least Joey can shoot.
So,
Bargs
Joey
Bosh
Parker
Calderon.
Not the best rebounding team, but not the worst either. The point is, all of them can shoot, and all can (conceivably) rebound.

Totally agree, it is a pretty obvious observation. What really gets me is that Rasho played only 14 minutes while Humphries played 4 in a game we knew was going to be decided by rebounding before it even started. Continuing with the same thread, I have no idea why Rasho registered a DNPCD against Detroit which is stacked up front. Confused coaching by Sam Mitchell.

I find Rashos playing time very weird. If he doesn't start, the only way he plays is if the other team has a really tall or powerful centre like Yao, Big Z or Shaq.

I also didn't like playing Bosh on Big Z. I mean, the man has to be your only rebounder anyway--at least don't try to tire him out on the defensive end.
Gooden would have been a better matchup by far. Play Bargs or play Rasho...but don't let the frnachise get manhandled in the post by a behemoth like Big Z. Actually, it did two things wrong.
First, it tired Bosh out, and second, took him out of position for the rebound--hence the weakside and long boards to the Cavs.
But what do I know. Next time Toronto MUST find a way to push the Cavs out of the post
