Can We Agree How Much Tj Means to the Raptors Now?

Post#1 » by raptorsam » Mon Jan 7, 2008 7:26 am

We are lost without him. Jose is great, he would average 12ish assist on a team with more talent. He is the type of PG that runs your offense and gets the ball with great accuracy to the scorers. The problem with the raptors is that we dont have that many scorers. Tj on the other hand has the ability to pass like jose but also to score and be an offense threat. All this trade TJ stuff is gone i hope and cant wait for him to get back!

calderon is like a brevin knight. Great assist numbers with 10 points but does not elevate peoples games. Ford has better potential to do that.

I agree.

Raps needs TJ. Whit TJ in the 4th, raps Raps would have won this one.

Damn. Yesterday I was working. I followed, by boxscore and realgm, until the end of the third. Then, at home ....... NOT POSSIBLE....

This year is tremendous, but I'm confident for the future.

If Jose was out...then we'd be sayin' the same about him as well...Everyone knows they help each other out by takin' pressure off of each other

Whats our record with TJ in the lineup? I don't think it was much different from now, especially when you consider that the schedule was easier when he playing. I said before the season started we are a borderline playoff team. 7-10 seed. We are right where we are supposed to be.

Still Tj / Jose?

I think:

Tj=Jose

but

Forderon>>>>>>>>>>>TJ
Forderon>>>>>>>>>>>Jose

And now Raps needs TJ

Of course, PG is the only position where we can school most teams. We're shorthanded right now.

Look at Toronto's bench without Jose and tell me he didn't make them look better.

Since TJ's injury, the Raptors are 5-7 and are scoring a woeful 91.7 points per game.

In the strech prior to the Atlanta game with TJ as the starter and Jose off the bench, the Raps were scoring over 98 points per game.

TJ is penetration. The biggest thing I have noticed since Jose has been starting is that he can't break down the D and create.

His injury has really cost us this year. It makes our position of strentgh, pg, not anywhere near as strong for 48. Takes away the option of riding the hot pg, takes away the ability to trade either pg, takes away the effectiveness of the bench, results in players on the bench who could contribute not being able to do so to their potential and the uncertainty of the situation makes it hard to trade an asset to fill a hole at pg that may or may not be there a month from now.

Righttttt. I am sure you have used statistics in why our bench has become so stagnant since Jose has gone from the second unit to starting unit. Jose is the main reason why we had one of the best benches, he does elevates peoples games.

The responses in this thread completely miss the most important reason why TJ is needed back: Defense.

Jose:opponent efg% .562
TJ:opponent efg% .397

Raps score less because the bench is led by Juan or KMart.

In other words, without a good PG, our bench is terrible.

So TJ would have shut down Lebron himself and helped close a 19 rebound deficit?

No offense, but would somebody please explain to me how a player averaging almost 15 ppg and 10 apg as a starter, and one that is currently 2nd in the league in assists per minute isn't creating? Most teams would be estatic with such production but in Raptorland, suddenly this is a problem?

I know that they're different players, but I'm confused how all the losing has suddenly fallen on Jose's shoulders? Especially when now the drop-off to the back-up PG has now fallen off a cliff.

I don't think anyone ever said this team doesn't need TJ.

If TJ was healthy, and Jose was injured, this team would miss Jose just as much.

With the lack of stars on this team, Forderon is needed.

I can't wait till TJ gets back. It'll be interesting how he gets his next stinger. TJ is not valuable to this team, we need someone who can play in more then 45 games a year.
I hate dissing TJ cause when he came back from injury with the bucks he was a feel good stoy and I was rooting for him. Now that hes here its frustrating as hell to watch his out of control play and then when he starts to play well he gets injured.
As a fan of this team I wish we never extended him. 8 mil for a half season? Jose will surely want that matched considering he can get through 82 games.
