iverson & melo can apparently make any point guard look fantastic.
anthony carter's averaging nearly 7 assists per game, and a 3:1 a/to ratio, as well as a career high 8 points on 53% shooting...along with 1.6 steals a game. after playing in europe last year.
every analyst said denver would miss steve blake after portland signed him away in the offseason.
but AC's putting up identical stats in fewer minutes, and he's a significantly better defensive player.

Uhh, Lakers bench combined for 54 points just 2 DAYS AGO against the Philadelphia 76ers. So I don't know what your talking about?
The game was already in the bag, guy. That game was over by halftime and the starters had already pushed the lead out too far.
If you think the Lakers bench has played well since mid december, I don't know what to tell you. Lakers bench comes in, big leads disappear in a hurry.

The problem is that Phil's rotations are stupid. He puts in the entire bench in at the same time when the other team has starters in. There's no reason that at least 1 and preferably 2 of Kobe, Bynum, and Odom can't be in the game at all times.
In addition, he starts Walton. Walton is better on the bench as he can help create for other players. Ariza is a lot better as a starter because he helps the defense. He can't create for himself except off of steals but the other players can create for him and he can slash to the basket.

I agree, our bench has looked pretty sh**y lately.

Yeah, he dominates now. He doesn't score as much as a Shaq, but it is pretty much over for 28 teams in the paint when they go against Bynum. Howard and Yao are the only two I can think of that could limit him.
While I do agree that Bynum has a physical advantage over most teams but I think he has trouble vs the KG/Perkins combo. I also am curious to see how he does against the Pistons when the Lakers go to Detroit.
Kobe seems to need to warm up this year. Starts off shooting poorly in the first half and then picks it up in the 2nd half. Lakers are really looking good though. The Bynum/Odom interior does give the Lakers the control of the boards vs almost any team besides the Celtics imo.
I also don't know why Phil doesn't keep Ariza in the starting lineup. He really works adds to them and gives them an athletic finisher who plays defense. I suspect it's just based on matchups. Maybe he's getting Walton some confidence............
I'm so tired of the typical......

Excellent point on KG/Perkins. I agree. I am also interested to see how he handles the physicality of Detroit at Detroit.
Pretty much I agree 100% with this entire post, but most importantly you and Eagles are right. Luke needs to come off the bench to stabilize the second unit and Ariza's athleticism, defense and activity would really make the starting unit just incredible.

And what has gotten into Nene?his FG% is terrible this year.I know he had that injury in his left hand, but come on.
Well, its a combination of things. For one, he was out of shape coming into the season, because he was setback in training camp due to the injury he suffered during the FIBA games(and hes a lazy ass piece of **** over the offseason). So he started out really slow and wasn't able to play a lot of minutes. Then he tore that ligament in his thumb four games in and missed seven weeks. It wasn't too horrible, because it allowed him to get his ass back into shape.....but since coming back, hes just been really rusty and hasn't really gotten back into the flow yet(hes still playing under 20 mpg). Even still, it's a very small sample size, as hes only taken 57 shots through 11 games this season....if he makes just 6 of those layups/dunks hes missed, his FG% goes from 40% to 51%.

Not quite: as far as I remember, in the period when Carter started for Riley in Miami, he was averaging >8 apg, being among league leaders.

his best year in miami was 4.8apg
he had 18 games where he started in 2001-2002 and averaged 7.1 assists in 32 minutes. but he scored just 6ppg on 37% shooting.
he's playing significantly better than that right now...at 32 years old.

- Yes, it was a period, not a season, as I've already pointed out: just like now it's still only a period of decent play from AC.
- I'd swear that it was >8 apg, but nevermind: the issue at hand isn't serious enough to overcome my laziness and search by myself.

- While I appreciate enormous jump from 6 ppg to 8 ppg, it's still not enough to claim that playing in Melo's/AI's Nugs has some miracle effect on PGs. Look at Blake, whom you've mentioned before: despite having more competition than in Denver, in Portland he's getting almost the same numbers in fewer mpg. On the other hand, such a scrub as Smush playing alongside Kobe reached almighty 11 ppg...

- To summarize: I agree that playing with superstar(s) is generally beneficient for role players like AC. But don't make it look like this rule applied only to Nuggets and Iverson/Carmelo.
