DJ Mbenga

Post#1 » by MikeyMike » Mon Jan 7, 2008 8:34 am

DJ Mbenga was just released by the Warriors.

Please tell me Mitch is going to add this guy to the roster. I would pay him full MLE type money.

Is there a spot on the roster for him? Can they send Koby Karl to the D-League?

I believe the Lakers have a spot for him. He's not the best player in the NBA, but he's a solid role player.

No. He sucks. He's a Kwame Brown who sucks even more. Can't score, bad hands, can't hit freethrows.

The Lakers are extremely shallow at PF/C.

If this guy can be signed for super cheap the Lakers should definitely do it.

Were not quite championship quality yet but it boggles me why people are still trying to pull these desperation moves as if were bottom of the league. I mean seriously, DJ Mbenga? Have you even heard of this scrub before he wa released? I would honeslty put money on the fact that every single player on our roster is better than he is.

I think he was waived by Dallas first. Then the Warriors picked him up and waived him. He was riding the pine for Dallas for a couple of years and they decided to give up on him.

He was the number one big man off bench for the Warriors. He is a big body who rebounds, and block shots. He was waived because his contract is nonguaranteed and the Warriors had to cut someone loose. He is basically Ronny Turiaf without the jumpshot but with better rebounding.

If Mbenga couldn't even get in the game with Damp and Diop ahead of him, there is no way he should get in the game with Turiaf, Mihm, Bynum, and Brown ahead of him.

I mean come on. Mbenga has one purpose- to inflict harm on opposing teams. He is a really strong guy, but he has zero basketball IQ. His skill level is horrid, he can block a shot here and there, but other than that, he brings nothing but awkward size to the table.

Lakers will pass on Mbenga...

Nah he's a big body but that's about it. I think he has knee problems as well though.

he's the guy that plays Center for the Warriors when Harrington and Biedrins aren't. 3rd string center, he's pretty much like an older Diop. I have no idea why we would add him. he would probably give us the worst FT% shooting C's in the league and for what?

I wouldn't mind adding him as another big body. Only for league minimum though.

You know what though, Mihm probably has more offensive skill in his left ankle than Mbenga does in his whole body.

Matter of fact, I'll take it a step further. Mbenga makes Jerome James look like Wilt Chamberlain, how's that... lol
