Another Positive From Yesterday - AP

AP played lights out yesterday. I'm going to hold off on judgement to see whether or not he can put together a string of good games but, yesterday was an encouraging sign.

20 Points
9 Rebounds (2 offensive)
4 Assists
2 Steals
1 Turnover

Plus, pretty good defense on King James.

I know that he isn't a regular 20-10-5 guy but, we do need him to be more consistant. This season, he's been good game, bad game, average game, bad game, average game, good game.

I don't know whether or not my view of last season was skewed but, it appears that AP seems to be less clutch this season. It may be because that he missed some key FT's in the playoffs last year that I'm focusing on this but, when it comes to key moments in the game, it appears to be that AP has been falling short.

Anyways, here's hoping that AP is finally on track.

Common sense as he gets older, his game will decline.

I realize that but, 1) he isn't that old and 2) his play this season has been wildly inconsistant. Being inconsistant shouldn't have anything to do with getting older. If anything, consistancy is something that should come with age.

Hate to be a downer, but Lebron scored on him at will in the 4th. I wish Chuck would shut his mouth - the moment he gave kudos to AP for stellar defence Lebron goes off. Chuck is the biggest jinx. I would not be surprised if just before Garbo's injury Chuck said something like: "Garbo is a durable warrior - they don't come much tougher and durable than him"

You could've put anyone on LeBron in the fourth and short of going Cobra Kai on him and sweeping the knee, there aren't many people out there that could stop him.

I did only watch 4th quarter: he was awful. He missed 2 or 3 OPEN threes in crucial moments. Then when I saw his statline...

I noticed this as well. AP was horrible in the 4th quarter.

He was excellent in the first half, but as he ages his endurance also declines and he was visibly worse in the second half. Credit the Cavs for making a few adjustments and pushing him into different spots on the floor, but Parker was still getting open 3s and the same rebounding opportunities in the second half and wasn't getting any of them. I don't think he's the kind of guy you want your team relying on for more than 20-25 mpg for an entire season at this point, but he's still a solid player.

Actually, AP's performance disappointed me insofar as he was unable to sustain it through a full 4 quarters. He was excellent until the final frame and then it fell apart for him.

Even on those rare days when AP plays good he usually falls apart in the fourth, that much I noticed.. Missed threes, missed free throws, gets burned on defense at the end (although he can't be blamed for yesterday).. He's just not a clutch fourth quarter player, which is fine as long as some other guys can step up and produce in his place.. Maybe the nerves get to him or something, or he's tired out from chasing the other team's star player all game..

AP's performance generally mirrors the team's performance - quite inconsistent. Who knows what AP will put up in the next game, and the game after. With this team, you just never know.

Parker missed a key shot in the 4th. I think it was like with under 2 to go in regulation.

Yeah, Parker played really well. He hasn't gotten a lot of credit for much this season. I don't see his age as being a detriment at this point. Remember he had a terrible start to last season as well, and I can't really say he's been playing poorly this season. Recently, it looks like he's reduced the number of low-percentage shots he's taken.

Typically a 50% 3-point shooter like Parker wouldn't miss open shots like he did at the end of the game, and typically a guy shooting less than 30% from 3-point range wouldn't hit 4 in a row. Some things are just the roll of the dice.
