Hornets Add Depth via Milwaukee

Post#1 » by loflin3hree5ive » Tue Jan 8, 2008 5:01 pm

Bucks Get:
Rasual Butler
Bobby Jackson
2008 2nd Round Pick

Hornets Get:
Dan Gadzuric
Charlie Bell
Royal Ivey
Michael Ruffin

Larry Harris takes some pressure off and unloads a few contracts for shorter ones. Butler and Jackson could bring the needed intensity to drive Milwaukee into the 8 spot in the wide-open east.

Hornets add depth with combo-guard Bell and add a shot-blocker off the bench in Gadzuric. Ivey and Ruffin are spot rotation players who add to the New Orleans bench.

The Hornets are in a precarious situation in terms of trading for depth. If they traded Butler, they would roughly have 42 million already earmarked for 2009-2010, they year Paul gets an extension. He is looking to probably double that offer of 6 million to 12 million. The Hornets also are gonna add five players to that list. I see the Hornets trading a first rounder and Butler to get the depth they need.

Ivey and Ruffin are waiver-wire level players. New Orleans can sign guys "off the street" to provide what they provide, and don't have to assign any value to them in trade.

The rest is Jackson, Butler and a 2nd for Bell and Gadzuric...and I don't think the Hornets do that. That hardly improves their depth.

Ruffin Yes Ivey no. Royal is playing very well so far this year. Most likely to get a longer term deal come summer. Ruffin yes Ivey not quite anymore. Unfortunately Charlie Bell has played poorly to start the season and his value may be a little low. Big game two days ago and hopefully for the next coming weeks may increase the valuie of him. I think its a fair trade for both teams at this point. Makes sense.

Bucks would do it no problem.

Thats a lot of salary for NOH to take on, but from what I hear they are desperate for bench help so maybe?
