NYK: Could they be possible trade partners?

I know how most fans around here hate anything that has to do with the Knicks but lets be frank, they have some talent. Most notably Eddy Curry and Jamal Crawford.

I can already hear the majority of the board moaning and groaning with the mere mention of those two names but IMO, their just the pieces the Raptors need in order to bolster the team.

Raptors would trade: Anthony Parker, Rasho Nesterovic, Juan Dixon, Joey Graham

Knicks would trade: Eddy Curry, Jamal Crawford

Why would the Knicks do this? To simply unload contracts and help speed up their rebuilding mode with more flexibility. Why would the Raptors? Read on..

Eddy Curry is a prolific scorer in the paint, and would complement Bosh's mid-range/slashing game very well.. while Crawford's streaky shooting would obviously be a step up to Anthony Parker's declining offensive abilities.

Now, I realize both these playors possess major flaws to their game (Curry's inability to rebound the basketball, Crawford's liability on the defensive end) but ask yourself this question.. are we really going to go anywhere with Rasho as our centre? Sure he can defend and he helps us when we face half court offensive teams but is he a threat to score? Might as well play 4 vs. 5.. Curry gives us that dynamic 1-2 punch with Bosh (outside, inside) as opposed to the Randolph situation where both players needed the low post to operate to be effective. (Zach just wasnt mobile enough). Not to mention Sam will obviously help them boost up their confidence in ways Isaiah did not.

Crawford while a liability, gives us that spark off the bench. He is the true definition of instant offense although streaky at times. He would do well alongside Calderon, Bargnani, Humphries, Delfino/Kapono. Not to mention he is averaging 19 ppg this season.. possibly his best?

This is how the team would look like if the trade was to go through..
Starting line-up: Ford*, Kapono, Moon, Curry, Bosh
Bench: Calderon, Crawford, Delfino, Humphries, Bargnani

We'd obviously be tied up in cap but IMO this is a risk worth taking for the reasons I stated.. but we could always tread in shallow water and stay stalemate with our team in terms of shaking things up. I'm not saying that this trade alone will lead the Raptors to a championship, but its just one of the more riskier trade scenarios BC might have the ability to pull off that not only benefits our team but is also realistic in terms of initiating.

Care to explain why they'd still be horrible if they played for the Raptors with a whole different system, with a whole different cast of players?

Sure, their horrible with the Knicks right now.. but what if they were to transfer to Toronto?

only players i would even try to inquire about on the knicks is david lee.

everyone else is trash.

Both players are headcases. both players think they are the center of their team, along with everyone else on the Knicks. Isiah Thomas has assembled a complete clone of himself with 12 players, outside of David Lee.

Offensivly I think Curry would fit in well. He would give us points in the paint which we are near the bottom of the league in, and is surrounded by great shooters so he'd have room to operate. Defensivly, and rebounding he's probably worse then Bargnani, and isn't going to get better where Bargnani should.

I dunno I'de take him for the right deal, but wouldn't give up much of anythng of value for him.

First off, that deal would be laughed at by the Knicks.

I don't want Curry that much, but man I would blow a load on my monitor if we could get Jamal Crawford on this team.

He'd be the ideal 2nd scorer next to Bosh for this squad, he's also a great ball-handler and can easily handle the PG duties if and when one of our PG's were to go down again. He can slash to the rim effectively and apply pressure on the defense not to mention he can also shoot.

Jamal Crawford to the Raps, get 'er done BC.

I rather try to get Randolph or Lee.

No need for Crawford.

Randolph and Lee give our team interior toughness plus some more trips to the free throw line.

Crawford is too inconsistant for my liking.. and don't let his PPG fool you.. he is a volume shooter to get points.. much like Zach Randolph.

40% FG
32% 3pt.

we have a similar shooting guy to that already.. Delfino

Do you have no heart? Sending AP, Rasho and Juan to the Knicks. That's the worse thing you could do to a person, never mind a player.

True, but this is without a real point guard by his side. Nate + Marbury are more of the two than the one.

With calderon + ford, the open looks will be in abundance for crawford.

add to the fact the constant double teaming of Bosh by opposing teams.. you've got Kapono and Crawford ready to let it fly. This could easily boost his percentages..

it doesn't matter who is at the point.. Crawford is a volume shooting.. and hasn't met a shot he doesn't like.

shooting 40% we'd be complaining about him every night bricking easy shots.

this guy made it a career shooting 40%.. we don't need those people on this team.

Nobody on the Knicks plays a lick of D. Bargnani plays better D than Curry and rebounds almost as much. Curry's an out of shape and overpaid head case. Crawford would be the lesser of evils, streaky, but possibly salvageable with the right coach and teammates.

I'm pretty sure if we give Juan Dixon free reign to chuck whenever he wants he'd be exactly like Crawford too. Crawful is horrible, horrible yet some people want to bring him in. :noway:

The only player on that team that I'd even look at is Lee. I wouldn't mind moving a few small things around for him, but not a whole lot, if we could get him for a steal I'd be thrilled. Everyone else on the team is radioactive and likely to strike your team with cancer. (with the exceptions Fred Jones and Renaldo Balkman)
