Wade can't carry a team any better than the rest

Post#1 » by MiamiHeatFan2004 » Wed Jan 9, 2008 3:35 am

Ok so we are a horrible team this year.

But also, we are now seeing Wade is not any better than Kobe, Lebron, AI or anybody else in the league at carrying a team all by himself. Lebron and AI took teams to the finals with not that much more than what the Heat have.

I can't imagine Kobe, AI or Lebron ever being 8-27 even with all the scrubs on our roster. We have some guys that know how to play but they need motivation and a LEADER!!!

I see Wade complain to referees alot, but I don't see him really caring when we lose. He isn't showing emotion or getting in peoples faces when they mess up or motivating them.

Who knows maybe I'm just mad, and want to blame anybody for this miserable season and since Wade is our best player he is the one I choose. I am disappointed in Wade this season even with the injuries, he has not lived up to his name this year.

Wade has gone down for the first time in his career compared to last season, Wade has not added anything new to his game, but he has lost ball handling and athleticism(explosiveness) while Lebron and Melo continue to rise and add to their arsenal. Yea a lot is due to injury I know, but still I'm pissed!!!!!!!!!

Wade has missed games, he isn't 100%, Shaq and Zo are out and so on, I know all that, but we just lost to MINNESOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody could carry this D-League injury depleted roster full of players who don't give a **** about winning and can't rebound.

I like you better when you were MIA

we know that Wade is bad off physically, the team is utter garbage and you still feel the need to start a thread to crap on the guy who hand delivered a title 18 months ago?

It's hilarious how people even attempt to blame Wade. The guy didn't play basketball for 6 MONTHS and is coming off two MAJOR surgeries (one which we found out today is a bigger deal than we thought) and he's still somehow putting up 25/7/4 on 48% FG and playing his heart out every night despite all the pain he's going through.

i dont know. i kind of agree. i wish he was more vocal and motivational on the court. hes the only person with enough power to help the bad chemistry on the squad.

That's actually horribly incorrect, at least that last sentence about the Finals.

AI had the 6MOY, the DPOY (and even before the Mutombo trade, he had Theo Ratliff averaging nearly 4 bpg) and a host of really good defenders and rebounders, as well as a well-orchestrated game plan schemed out by the COY.

So it's functionally incorrect to say that Wade had ANYTHING like that, since Miami has not enjoyed anything resembling Philly's D from that year. Philly was the 5th best defense in the league in '01; Miami's presently 22nd in the league in defensive efficiency.

Moreover, Lebron had Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Drew Gooden in his frontcourt with him. For rebounding alone, that's basically superior to what the Heat have this year, nevermind consistency of roster because of health.

Accuracy counts.

I can't imagine Kobe, AI or Lebron ever being 8-27 even with all the scrubs on our roster. We have some guys that know how to play but they need motivation and a LEADER!!!

Well, let's see... Kobe managed to go for a 34-win season in 04-05, a member of the team that was the WORST defense in the league. I can't say I'm inclined to agree with you at all.

And that's on a team with 16/6/2 from Butler, 15/10/4 from Odom (though only in 64 games), and about 14/2/4.5 from Atkins. Atkins, Jumaine Jones and Tierre Brown even did a reasonable job of hitting 36%+ from 3 (39%+ for Atkins). They were the 6th best offense in the league but they couldn't defend worth a damn and so they fell apart.

So yeah, I could definitely see Kobe having a lot of trouble.

Mind, Wade's on the roster still scoring at an efficiency that would be Kobe's 4th-best TS% in his career and this is following major injuries and surgery.

He is also throwing out more assists on any given night than Kobe has ever managed and drawing more FTAs than Kobe has managed.

So no, I don't really see Kobe doing anything that Wade isn't already doing on offense and on D, better man defender or not, Kobe has already proven that without significant help, his team can still be ass-last in the league and fail to win 35 games on the season (and remember, they actually started 24-19; they finished the season going 10-29).

So Kobe's actually already HAD a similar stretch of inadequacy in his career as Wade is presently experiencing. He was also injured, of course, he only played 66 games that year but really, there's no difference here.

Lebron opened his rookie season up 20-34, which included a 8-game losing streak. He had a 7-game winning streak to get things going later in the season but the Cavs were dreadful that year; they lost 7 games in a row, then closed the season on a 3-game winning streak. So yeah, two 7+ game losing streaks in a season that ended with 35 wins. Better pace than the Heat are on presently but really, the team had similar stretches of incompetence.

I see Wade complain to referees alot, but I don't see him really caring when we lose. He isn't showing emotion or getting in peoples faces when they mess up or motivating them.

Well, some people just don't have that kind of personality, right? I mean, some people don't scream and frown and stomp around when they're angry; Wade was generally a reserved individual before he hit the limelight and that hasn't yet changed about him, nor does it much figure to. Not everyone can be MJ, ripping his teammates to shreds because he had a pathological need to win and hatred for losing.

That's not really a fault in Wade; there have been plenty of successful leaders who have led by example rather than by oratory and brazen displays of emotion.

Anyway, the rest of your post explains what you're about; you can't really fault Wade for being incapable of performing at 100% when he's recovering from surgery.

I'm not blaming Wade, but we always said Wade could carry a team just how anyone else could. I don't see him taking responsibility is the thing. And he isn't carrying us anywhere except to the L column right now, so even he takes some blame today.

He is just blending in as another loser on the team. I know we have 75% D-league players right now, but Wade has to be the one to get in people's faces and tell them what to do. if they mess up he has to tell em they messed up.

its not Wade's fault we are this bad, but I think we should have won tonight and I think Kobe or Lebron or Ai would have pulled this game off 9/10 times and Wade should to.

No reason we should lose to Minnesota with Wade on our team period.

the game doesn't come as easy to Wade as it does to Kobe or Lebron.. They were born with natural talent compared to Wade who really has to work for everything. When Wade wants to work he is top 5 but when he tries to let the game come to him and rely soley on talent it doesn't work out that well.

well wade had 25 pts , 10-18 fg , 5-7 ft , 7 assists and high turnovers ...he def played decent enough for heat to win ..what would make those others 3 players u mentioned win this game for the heat that didnt hasnt already done ?? i think wade proved enough when he dropped 48 on 16-21 shooting and heat still lost ... it just proves how much bball is a team game and even though u have a top 5 player if u have a bunch of nbdl players thne u just wont win

They finished 10-29 because both Kobe and Lamar got injured in the 2nd half of the season. Kobe only played 66 games that year. Missing your superstar on a new team is a big deal.

I agree.

His 3pt shooting, freethrow shooting, turnovers, and defense have all been a problem long before his injury so I don't know why people are using it as an excuse.

I posted last season that Dwayne didn't make his teammates better and of course that ticked off his fanboys. That point to me has just been validated this year with Shaq not being able to contribute.

You blamed Walker for being out of shape and inconsistent. You blame Wright for being inconsistent. You blame Ricky for not being clutch enough and for being a chucker. You blame Luke for not being a good shooter. You blame Smush for being alive. You blame Shaq for being old, foul-prone, slow and for making $20million. You blame Jason for his injuries. When Posey didn't produce offensively last season he was ripped. Yet Wade can force shots, miss key freethrows, lead the league in turnovers, play zero defense and get a free pass. He's the franchise player who can't seem to win without old, slow, fat, not-worth-the contract Shaq dominating. When is he going to be held responsible?

You even accuse Shaq of looking unenthusiastic during games but Wade is often the same way.

I'm definitely not trying to say it's all Wade's fault but you have to start at the root. Riley, then Wade and Shaq. You can't go blaming your whole season on Luke Jackson. He's not the reason the Heat were swept by the Bulls or why this team is 8-28. Carter, Bron, Tmac, Anthony, KG, and Kobe have all taken heat from fans and the media when their teams have played poorly (And I can't remember either of their teams ever looking as bad as the Heat do now) so why no blame on Wade?

His defense is fine. His FT shooting is OK. Not being a good 3pt shooter doesn't dramatically hurt his game as usually isn't that open on the three. He TOs way too much.
