Getting on a streak...

Post#1 » by campybatman » Wed Jan 9, 2008 1:10 pm

Does anyone believe that it'll be routine for the Celtics this season to lose one or two games to a good team and then go on a long winning streak before the next lost? I mean do you see them ever losing games consecutively?

March will be the month the Celtics face a tough schedule.

The Celtics haven't won 10 in a row since Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish led them to 14 straight wins in March and April of 1986, months before Boston's most recent NBA title.

Speaking of streaks, is it too early to suggest that Boston could challenge the record of either Chicago 41-3 or Los Angeles Lakers 39-3 or Philadelphia 37-3?

Winning 29 of their first 32 games places the Celtics fourth on the league's all-time list for best starts.

Only the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls (41-3 on the way to a 72-10 season), the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers (39-3 to open a 69-13 season) and the 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers (37-3 to set the tone for a 68-13 record) have begun with better records than the Celtics.

Let's take it one game at a time.

That. The moment they look forward to the next game is the moment they lose. I think it's much more difficult to get a streak going than to just win games individually because as the winning streak increases, teams are going to play them tougher. Suddenly a simple game against Charlotte (tonight, for instance) becomes difficult because they will play as if they are in the Finals. Beating a team like the Celtics on a big streak is a huge motivational tool for a team.
