Amir Johnson
Primoz Brezec
Walter Hermann
for
Drew Gooden
Cedric Simmons
My only fear is that Gooden is the only "sure thing" as far as production in the deal goes and Simmons looks solid, but Amir could have a bright future...
Brezec and Herrman can't be combined in a trade.

Eyes on the deadline buddy. As for trading John Salmons for him...HELL NO!!
Are you betting me that Thomas will be traded? LMAO the Kings have been trying to dump that loser for the past 3 seasons. What makes you think anyone wants him anymore than they did in 2004?

Well, there are many deals on here I could pick apart and laugh at, but I won't. I will simply say that this thread is the exact reason why he wont be traded unless he's the guy that puts a larger deal (involving starters) over the top. Yes, the Pistons are stacked at his position (Sheed, Dice, Max), but he's got too much talent to give up for guys that won't crack the Pistons rotation.
If the Pistons want to move him, they will wait until the offseason after he can get some major minutes late in the season. His value is at it's lowest at the moment, and that's not when you sell.

Jeez... two first round picks? Don't you think that is overpaying for a guy who has only played 341 in 3 years?
Jermaine O'Neal played even less than him over his first 5 years in the league . And when Amir plays , he actually contributes. He's the Pistons best rebounder and shot blocker , is EXTREMELY fast ( runs the floor like a two guard ) , has a solid mid - range game , hustles hard , and is only 20 years old . The only knocks on Amir is that he must develop a more polished low post game , get stronger to help him defend the low post a little better , and to play a little sharper defensively and not miss rotatins as he does at times . I'm sure the Lakers fan that propesd that trade watched the game against the Lakers when Amir blocked 6 shots in about one quarter of playing time . Had he come out this year as someone pointed out he would have beena top 5 pick ( He's actually younger than Horford and Green the 3rd and 5th picks . The Pistons shouldnt even consider trading Amir unless they SERIOUSLY upgrade one of their starting spots for a reasonably salaried player like a Tayshaun + Amir for Caron Butler deal or a McDyess + Amir for David West type of deal . Not sayin that those deals would be accepted by the Wizards or Hornets but those are the only type of deals I would consider if I was Joe D . . . . . . . . . and definitely not John Salmons . . . . . and Kenny Thomas ???

You know I can say the same thing for my guy Ian Mahinmi, when he plays he contributes but you don't see me busting a nut talking about him and his potential. Who cares what someone thinks, that he would/should/could have been a top pick. It is pure speculation. In the end he is a big with unrealized potential.

You could say the same about JR Smith, who has done a lot more than Amir Johnson in the NBA, but he is practically worthless on the trade market.
Bottom line is that it doesnt make sense for Detroit to trade him. Right now he is earning 3+ mill to sit on the bench, but its an investment from the Pistons standpoint.

The JR Smith analysis doesnt work because 1)Smith is a known Cancer, where is Amir is the ultimate proffesional 2) SG's are a dime a design and bigman with Amirs skillset are hard to find.
I made this trade thread to gauge Amirs worth around the league, and clearly he has no worth to the fans who have probably not seen him play. Dumars got a bigman/expiring and the 15th pick for Darko who had shown a lot less than Amir has, I thikn if Joe D decided to trade Johnson (which I doubt he does this year unless he's given up on him or severly upgrades at the 5 spot) it would be for a similiar if not better package.

Hah. Darko was the 2nd pick in one of the deepest drafts of all time. I can guarantee you no team will give you that kind of value for Johnson.

I can agree with that, I have seen every game Amir has played in as a Piston in addition to watching him play in the Dleague. Im not saying the sample size is huge, but its better than the majority of people who probably just browsed over his profile on RealGM and not bothered to do the actually research.
I trust in the fact that 13 teams inquired over him this offseason, that RC Buford throw more than Detroits 3.7 mil a year deal for him, and that scouts league wide are high on him.
Also, lets keep in mind that this is Joe Dumars we're talking about. He is a great GM, and I have little doubt in his ability to get fair if not better value for Johnson. You can call me "clueless" all you want just as easily as I can call you clueless for thinking that Salmons/Thomas would be a great value for Detroit.
