Gordon wants out of Chicago?

Post#1 » by JimmyJammer » Thu Jan 10, 2008 3:42 am

Last night, while I was driving around, I had the chance to listen to some of the bulls game on 1050AM, one of NY radio station. The play-by-play man of the NY Knicks, Gus Johnson, indicated that he had a nice interview with Ben Gordon before the game. He went on to say, he has come away with the impression that Gordon is not so happy in Chicago and would like to move on somewhere else. Granted that the NY media likes to be the pioneers of news stories, but the credibility of the source gave me a lot to think about. Gus Johnson is not the type of guys who would fabricate stories so he can be in the headlines. Was Gordon being so candid with a journalist because he was in NY and feeling right at home? Is Gordon contemplating leaving the bulls after his contract runs out? Did Gordon and Deng poor play at the beginning of the season have to do with them being upset at management? Do these guys feel unappreciated? Curious minds want to know.

I wouldn't doubt it. He has always wanted to be the star of this team. And it isn't going to happen here with Deng, tyrus and other talented players. And he probably hates coming off the bench. So, if I was the Bulls, I'd just trade him now before he just walks away. I think he wants to go to NY

NY media loves to play up the angle that BG is from there and would like to 'come home'. I'd prefer some direct quotes before getting all excited.

As far as not being happy in Chicago, there were rumors last year that half a dozen Bulls players wanted out of town. And if some of our other players wre talked to in the same way, beside just BG, with leading questions, I'm sure they would find other guys that are not too happy with how things are going here either. Nor should they be. The team is a failure this year.

Ben needs to pray that Isiah doesn't get fired because that is the only way he is going to get a deal better than what we will offer him. He needs to wait patiently for LeBron to get here and he can win a championship.

The only teams I can think of that would fit Ben are Cleveland and LA, and neither of those teams have anything that we would want (except the obvious) and would take the ball out of his hands even more. I don't think he is as highly thought of around the league that him and his agent led themselves to believe although I think he is very valuable to our particular team.

I wouldn't doubt this he's the leading scorer on the team and he has to come off the bench because they want Hinrich to stay in the line up. I doubt he wants to play for the Knicks that team is in total disarray. He needs to be on a team where he's the starting pg with a big guard next to him who can handle the ball. You never know wants going on in these nba guys head knowing Ben he's the smart quiet type he's also looking for big contract this off season too.

Assume the rumors are true:

You do know he's a restricted free agent so pretty much we can still get something in return this summer.

I wouldn't be suprised if even more players on our team feel the same way. Why? Because we have a team full of young players who still havn't been in the league enough to really know their place in the league. When your young and somewhat succesful, it gets to your head(not in a bad way), you think you can be the best player in the world, and deserve to be the number one. Its happened to plenty of young players, they leave for greener grass(more mintues, starting positions, more money, more fame etc) to find out its not always greener on the other side.

I doubt he will stay beyond this year. But i also doubt he'll ever be a star either. So no big loss. As pointed out we'll get something in return for him either way.. but if we just let him walk, then ill be pissed.

I would think that it's a pretty regular thing for players to want to be moved. I mean my dad has said he wanted to leave his job for like the last 10 years but hasn't. I think it's a thing people just say but don't always act on it. I think BG will stay here unless Paxson asks him to take a DNA test or something.

Leading scorer...? Check.

Guy who gets double teamed...? Check.

Guy everyone EXPECTS to get hot...? Check.

Guy to pass to at the end of games...? Check.

If I was Ben Gordon, I'd want out too. A GM who is not serious about winning and stands pat while other teams are getting better.. Yeah.. I'd be gone in a heart beat because this organization has no passion to win, only the passion to fill the seats.

Paxson sucks and should be fired.

He is the guy in Chicago, but he isn't good enough to be the guy. He's the guy by default.

Few players are able to be 'the guy'

Edit: I can understand why Ben Gordon wants out, and I would prolly want the same if money is equal

Good, let's trade him and Wallace for T-mac or Vince Carter/Jason Collins.

Hes probably disappointed, and rightfully so, the GM has been feeding him, the rest of the team, and the fanbase about how he wants the team to win, so he replaced the losers we had with winners, and all that jazz, then went and totally contradicted himself time and time again, not making trades for a star, not negotiating with our top two players for contracts, etc, etc. He was naive, and Pax tried to exploit his(and other players') trust, not only that but hes also probably pretty ticked that Deng keeps getting so much hype about how he'll develop into a monster when we've yet to successfully develop a young player into a star, while BG makes strides each season to improve just as much as Deng.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Deng, I just think that Gordon sees that Deng won't become the player hes hyped up to become, mostly due to his mentality, whereas Gordon has the mentality, as well as the potential, but its being wasted by our poor development of our players.

Why would Houston do that? That McGrady thread is out of control. If Tmac was seriously on the block, don't you think that some team would come up with a better package than one of the worst contracts in the NBA plus a soon to be free agent?
