some things that make me go hmm. I'm not trying to "create" issues, t this is just my impressions and I do not know them to be true. I don't hate Ford, and I hope he returns, let me state that, but somethings don't add up very well, from what I know.

I wonder if the release of this info, which I do not believe is anything new, i stand to be corrected, and if I was it may change my opinion, Is to put more pressure on TJ.

Here Smith is seen questioning Ford:

T.J. Ford is off to the Cleveland Clinic this week to have another respected doctor take another look at his spine, neck and head.

Absolutely Fantastic News! Now he just needs to get in game shape and sync up with the Raptors "new" found offense.

I hope he works hard and comes back after the all-star break. Which would be a huge boost to the fans and the team!

That is just it. I am reading (perhaps it is just an inference) that he went to receive a second opinion and that this second opinion was positive.

Honestly, my take is that this is like his 4th opinion. All have been the same, far as I've heard. But none of it is news, just more of the same. I think since he was originally cleared, and BC originally said it was now just a matter of his feeling able to come back, it's been the same issue: TJ's perception.

So I guess we could say this is yet another medical opinion telling him the same thing, and we can hope this is the one that tips the balance re: his deciding to play. But I don't see this as news. The 2 pieces of news are/would be, his originally being medically cleared, and whenever he decides that he can play. Other than that it's just the fourth verse, same as the first. As I said, not bad news, but not really news, either, at least not to the degree that people were expressing 'PHEW!', that I understood.

I see your point, but I think what's significant about this is that Ford is heading back to Houston to begin practising again. Basically, it seems like he has decided to get back on the court and now it's just a matter of preparation and getting back into game shape.

Oh, sorry, if it said that then I agree. I thought it said that now, at some undetermined point, that will/could happen. I didn't realize it said it was happening now, and if it did, I retract my comment, and this IS news.

I agree with this.

Just trying to see it with Ford's eyes (I understand he may think differently, but I'm trying - I am sure I would be confused too)

I work for company X. I get injured at work. These types of injury, if recurrent, could put me in a wheelchair and prevent me from working or have a normal life. The risk to get injured at work is high, it has been the third time in last couple of years.

Insurance pays my salary. Doctor says I could return but further injury could put me in a wheelchair.

But I like what I do. It is the thing I do best in my life, I am one of the best in the world at doing this. And if I do not get injured I can have a nice long rewarding career, and a lot of perks that come with it (including media attention, etc). I also like the guys I work with and my bosses, and am a loyal guy.

Tough decision, TJ. Good luck, and, as a fan, hope you come back. But if you do not I will respect your decision.

Is it possible Ford was waiting to get clearance from every specialist they targeted? and that this Cleveland specialist is the last one who they wanted to hear from before he began training again?

No because that's too boring.... C-O-N- Spiracy is the only logical explanation.

I mean what theories posters have presented constitute what you consider conspiracy theories?

The news this time around appears to be that he himself has taken this as a sign to start workouts to get back in game shape... and back mentally ready to play.

And that's exactly what I see. I don't understand Smith's article. Is he questioning TJ's commitment to come back? I think it was clear from the start that TJ's intention was to come back.

He's been very consistent about that from his first interviews since being injured. It was just a matter of him deciding when he was mentally ready. Well now he's made his decision that's it's time. I'm hoping for a February return. We need him back, bad.

Yeah, thats my take on it aswell.

Not sure if it have been mentioned, but it's possible that as part of this whole situation, TJ and the Raptors organization have assessed his game and have identified things that TJ can work on to limit the chance of something like this happening again. Maybe its changing his style a litte, or taking a new approach when driving the lane, better body control, etc. Based on his history, its likely that any type of blow, similar to those he's taken in the past while, will result in similar or worse responses from his body. If you can't change the effect, then you have to consider doing something about the cause.

This type of change would require repetition and regular work to break the old habits and would really an unkown timeline. The Raps staff are busy dealing with other players and not in a position to be a full time trainer to TJ....enter John Lucas....

I actually concur with you for once, but we are still delighted over the fact there has been no controversy in what each person who he saw, had to say about his condition.

That sums it up right there, especially being one of the best in the world at his job.
