I'm sorry but proclaiming Jose an All-Star is laughable. Not because I dislike him or think he sucks but because he isn't an all-star. Has basketball been so watered down to stats that the meaning of all-star is so different. An all-star needs to be a game changer plain and simple. They need to be able to impose their will on a game not just go with the flow of easy decisions.
Hollinger himself discredits the pick by suggesting that the player has to be considered one of the top 12 players in the conference. Well Jose is most certainly not that.
PG: Kidd, Billups
SG: Wade, Carter, Peirce, Richardson, J.Johnson
SF: Lebron, Jefferson, Butler, J.Smith
PF: Garnett, Bosh, Jamison
C: Howard, Shaq
And I forgot some.
It's simply overreaching to name Jose an all-star, the drop from Billups to him is quite significant. Jose is a good player but he has yet to take the step to becoming a great player.
Call me old-school but stats don't make a player. For me Bosh is the only thing close to great on this team and even he has some more twists but on most nights hes great. Everything in this league is so over-inflated. Average players are now good and 2nd even 3rd tier players are great.
And the person who said the disparity between PG's in the East and West is huge is most certainly correct. The West has
Paul, Nash, Williams, B.Davis, Iverson, T.Parker, J.Terry all except Terry are arguably better than the East
