When TJ first went down I was playing around with the trade checker and found that AP+Dixon+rights to Ukic to CHI for Duhon was good under the salary cap. Seeing AP's play of late I would think that AP+Dixon's expiring contract and possibly a first rounder sometime down the road would be a decent offer for Duhon. But hopefully TJ will be back soon (knock on wood) so no need to explore that further

You never know what you can get for a solid player like AP. Memphis got Rudy Gay for Battier so if a deal like that came along we'd have to take it into consideration.

AP is not Shane Battier. I agree we could get something, I just don't think it'd be worth what were giving up.

Two points. AP is 32 now. He'll be 33 in June. It's not his fault but he's on the down escalator, and it gets steep when you're over thirty.
Second, BC is an opportunist. I think if he can get good value for AP now, he does it. AP is going to be of more value now to a team looking for help for a playoff run than he'll have in the summer when teams tend to take a longer view of things (all they'll see is his 33 years). We're not going to win a championship this year. We're very unlikely to contend this year. We do have garbo coming back for next year and we'll all have another year of experience, and another year of playoff exposure under our belts.
And a third point (i'm cheating). If not AP -- who? He's the only starting calibre player we have who's not part of our future. kw

AP's got his game back, just in time for the trade deadline. He's playing well, scoring well, shooting a very high percentage from three, he defends, and he's not expensive. A lot of teams could use him. Given that we're building for the long-term and he's 32(?), is he someone we might look to deal (individually or in a package). If so, what might we get for him?

Aren't those all reasons to keep him if we're hoping to compete for the first couple rounds of the playoffs?

if your ultimate goal is to make the second round of the playoffs this year then, yes, keep him. if we're building a championship contender, trade him.

You have to walk before you can run. You're not going to win a championship without having a few seasons where you get knocked out in the second round. We've always been a team that's trading away good players to "build for the future". The fact is that the future is now and we need this team to get some playoff experience and begin its journey towards eventually winning an EC title. I say we keep him and accumulate some success in the playoffs.

That's a fair argument but I'd still make best efforts to see what he's worth this spring. His max value as a trading asset is right now.

I highly doubt we move him this season.

The main team that would have valued him highly alone was Utah before they acquired Korver. He'd have been pretty perfect there.

But, Parker is a solid role player, who's taken a step back this year, but is still valuable. I think he might get peddled next year as a part of a bigger deal.

Keep in mind when I came up with this proposal:

1.) It was right after TJ went down and nobody knew when or if he would be returning this season or possibly ever.

2.) AP was not playing his best basketball by any means

If anything at the time I made this deal up (which was mid Decemberish) I thought the Raps were the clearcut winners. Parker was playing way below his avg (despite 50% from 3, but not much outside of that), Dixon looked even worse than he does now, and Ukic despite what many of you might think on here is a huge variable and a gamble for anyone to take. We would have been getting a high character, captain of his team and overall above avg PG for that...an aging vet who looked to be on the decline, a shot chucking undersized SG for the sake of an expiring deal and a PG who has not even played in an NBA game yet.

I don't know what some of you guys think but in order to acquire something you have to give up something equal or more to what you want to recieve. Especially if you're desperate and if TJ would have been gone for the rest of the season, believe me the Raps would have been desperate for a solid PG which Chris Duhon undoubtedly is.

Denver would be a PERFECT trading partner as they need perimeter shooting and 3 pt shooting, badly and a good defender as Anthony Carter does not cut it. AP+Rasho+Dixon+future 1st for Nene? Nene is a beast. we could use him.
