Amywhoo, re: the OP, I don't think I have anywhere near the sense that we could do great things the way I did when VC and T-Mac were together. Since they broke up, though, I thought that was pretty much our shot gone barring a draft miracle, and so in that respect I guess there's not much difference between then and now.
Until VC blew his knee, though, he was a reason you watched on the edge of your seat, and I don't think we have anything like that now, but who does?
In terms of TYPE, it's hard to say. We played better team ball last season than any of the VC years, imo, but those years probably had better talent. This year we're not really playing the same, though imo the talent isn't worse than last year, if anything better.

IMO, we're really only two players away from being a legitimate contender to exit the East, even if the acquisition of those players robs us of our present depth.
mhh...last year bargnani is been an huge factor (especially in the last 2 games of the series vs the nets..), ok, i'm italian, but i'm not stupid to undervalue/ overvalue a player mainly basing on nationality.
andrea has a lot to do to be an offesive threat, but he has all the tools to be a star...
dixon is a bench warmer ....they're not comparable.

11.6 pts, 3.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.8 blocks in 25.1 minutes.
Seriously, Bargs' rookie season has to rank among the most mythologized in history. If you read posters about it and didn't know the numbers, you'd swear he was like 21/8/3/2 or something.

mhh..ok what's wrong ?!?..rebounds?!? ..ok, so obviously you have to hire a personal coach and work on rebounds no?...is that been done ??..no absolutely...they're (raps) wasting their 1th overall pick in a such bad way

or something.
It's funny how we get both extremes on this player. Do you not think you are under valuing Bargnani and being over critical at times?
How some compare his to Hoffa is delusional.

To tell the truth, I liked the Raptors of Vince's first 3 years in the league better. After that, it went all downhill for Vince. That team had an identity. This current team still seems to be searching for theirs.
Also, it tight games, with Vince's team, you knew who was going to step up. With this team, it's kinda hard to tell. It should be Bosh that gets the ball in late game situations but, thats been horribly inconsistent this year. And, when Bosh has gotten the ball, he's been hesitant.
What I like about this current team is that, they have a lot of room to improve. Vince's team was basically a finished product that just needed some tweaking here and there.

Nothing compares to the golden era of 1999-2002. Those years were the greatest as a Raptor fan, that was the height of the Vinsanity era, when he was one of the most popular players in the world and stadiums would pack to see him play. The playoffs, purple fever, a hard-working tough team with guys like AD, Alvin, Oakley. Never forget guys like Dell Curry or Mo-Pete when he was a youngin or Chris Childs.
I miss those days like crazy, but I do really enjoy watching our current Raptors squad.

Actually scratch that, nothing beats the days of that 2002-2003 season where we went through a crazy injury-plagued season, and the only guy on our team trying out there was Alvin. And we would cheer for the Raptors to lose every game to tank for Lebron. Hah, those were the days. This board was also a lot better than too.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and trade rumours of stuff like Vince Carter for Nick Van Exel or Allan Houston. While Knicks fans would claim that Michael Sweetney was going to be way better than Bosh.

Go compare Andrea's rookie numbers to past #1 picks, it ranks among the worst.
This is a fact, it's not 'hate'.
