Can we get DWade the Summer of 2010?
The Wiretap article says DWade could possibly opt out after the 09/10 season. This will be the Summer after Ray Allen's contract expires. Hoopshype says we are only committed to $44,700,000 for the 10/11 season. Could somebody who knows NBA salaries better than me tell me if it's realistic to expect DA to go after Wade if he opts out? This would be a great opportunity to reup the talent level. Would Danny be able to keep the roster streamlined enough to where we have expiring contracts that all end after the 09/10 season and still remain competitive?

Interesting idea. Would Wade fit in with Pierce and Garnett? One other thing to consider is that Wade is always hurt. I think he's been hurt every year he's been in the league. Not sure how much you would be able to count on him.
Can't help you with the salaries. I'm interested to hear the responses to your post about how this could work salary wise.

technically, its possible. you would have a team comprised of kg, pierce, perkins, dwade, and then at least 9 other players making the minimum.
but to pull that off, you would have to not draft anyone the next 3 years, make no free agent signings that go beyond the '10 offseason, and not extend anyone else currently on the team.
so actually, no, there is zero shot at landing dwade.

i had a dream that redd was playing for the celtics instead of ray...weird. i also think it would be a better fit. redd is more of a catch and shoot player than ray is. ray needs 20+ shots per night to be great. redd, along with ray, is probably the best shooter in the L. & he's younger & not as much miles on his knees as ray.
but we don't have much 1st round draft picks for the next few years, right? didnt 2 of them go in the garnett trade?

Ironically, the Bucks ditched Allen to keep Redd.
Anyhow, the Celts traded one of their own picks for Garnett, as well as giving Minny one of is picks back. That trade pick will make it harder (not impossible) for them to trade further picks for the next three years. Specifically, they can draft a guy and then quickly trade him. But they can't trade a pick before it's actually exercised.

I would do this for Redd, but not Wade. I don't think Wade is a good fit because his game is too much like Pierce's. We would need a pure shooter to go along with PP and KG.

In 2010, Pierce and KG are going to be what; 33 and 34? You shouldn't pass up acquiring an elite young talent like Wade for a good talent like Redd because he'll fit a bit better next to two players who will probably be role players or retired in roughly 2 or 3 years (I mean 2012-2013 when I say this, not 2 years from today--but 2 years from this hypothetical), and probably already starting their decline in 2010.cisco wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

Would the chemistry with Redd be a little better? Yeah, probably, but it's not like Wade is selfish and we'd have a Randolph/Curry chemistry problems of epic proportions.
I think they would definitely need a better shooting point guard than Rondo if they signed Wade to replace Ray.

if he is available and we can stockpile enough chips, i would love to get him, but can we acquire the pieces tp make it work while for cleveland? Danny is going have to keep working his magic in the draft first.
If Lebron demands a trade here I won't complain if he wears his Yankee cap to Red Sox games.
