Taking the place of a famous dad is equal parts good fortune and teetering high-wire act. Nobody knows that conundrum better than Joey Meyer. He led the DePaul Blue Demons to 231 wins between 1984 and 1997, before a disastrous 3-23 season led to his dismissal. The younger Meyer had six 20-win seasons, seven NCAA appearances, and was named NCAA coach of the year in 1987, but he could never truly take the place of the legendary Ray Meyer, who notched his first win against Navy Pier in 1942 and kept going until he had 724 victories, two final fours, and an NIT championship to show for it all.
