Terrible back and neck problems are what he's probably sure to have if he keeps this up. You're clueless if you don't think that alters your life. My mom had to retire on disability because of her back problems. (which wasn't really a bad thing in her case) It's just not worth it in his case.

I'm not a doctor so I'm not going to pretend to know more than I know, but I know that for a fact.

That's pretty presumptuous. Good thing the doctors he visited weren't supporters of an opposing team or else they too might have tried to convince him to retire.

And how do you know they didn't try to convince him? Doctors clear players all the time to play because they have to if they are able to play, doesn't mean it's in their best interest. Look at the big concussion problem that's going around in football.

And how do you know they didn't go over all the potential risks? They didn't go over the chances and possibilities of him suffering a significant injury? Don't you think T.J weighed out all the pros and cons of coming back? Do you actually think he'd come back if he wasn't sure that he wasn't at any greater risk than he was before this past fall? He was cleared way before yesterday, but T.J decided that he wanted to get as much as information as possible before making any decision.

I can't wait till he comes back, mentaly and physicaly ready to play again. The team really misses him on the court and needs him back.

Can people just stop arguing about him retiring or not, the Dr's have cleared him to play.They've obviously talked about all the risks involved with him coming back and TJ's decided to return, which is great.

Its not defensiveness...I just think its silly how a bunch of realgm posters are questioning his decision like they know whats better for him more than TJ, his doctors, family, friends, teamates etc..... You don't know how his family, friends and doctors feel about it. It's silly to think you do. It's just an opinion and things like this happen, so why is it so ridiculous to think it isn't happening this time? Because you're a Toronto fan and you don't want to believe this is even possible? Ok... I'm not going to deny that I don't want TJ to retire because he is major contributor to our team but thats not the only reason. I also want him to come back because I think that is what makes him happiest in this life. I think if he retired he'd regret it the rest of his life and everything I'm hearing from the media has indicated that those that are in the know think he is fine to return.

We're all somewhat biased in some way but at least I'm going by whats being reported and you are going on whats not being reported. If it were being reported that he's not healthy I wouldn't have suggested its best to return.

I really don't want this to get heated so I'm going to back off now.

I'm not going to say whether his chances of paralasys are any more/less than the average human but I find it kinda suspect that even though he's been cleared by everyone he's consulted opposing fans are still saying he should quit "for his own good".

I don't hate the Raptors and TJ Ford is one of my favorite non-Hawks. Your point fails again. By the way, I never said I wanted him to retire. I want the exact opposite. I just hope he's making the best decision. It's not like any of us have any say on his decision...but I'm done talking about this.

It's because people are commenting on a situation they know absolutly anything about. The OP know's nothing about Ford's situation, or his risks. The only people tha really know the situation are Ford, and a team of Specialist doctors. They say his spine is stronger then a regular person's and he is fine to play. Horford drops him on his head, and he's still fine. What is there to question?
