http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4399103

ATLANTA breakdown:

M Williams/Claxton for Hayes/Brown/Critt/Det 08 1st

Atlanta dumps Speedy's contract, get a defensive inside presence that also happens to be a large expiring, a young talented combo G, and a good SF. They do lose out on the potential of Marvin but I think they get better with this deal. Hayes (he is averaging almost identical stats as Marvinper minute played) should be a good backup or starter if ATL would still prefer to bring in Chill off the bench. Kwame could be the defensive anchor in the middle either off the bench or as a starter depending on matchups. Critt and Law push each other to win time on the floor.

DETROIT breakdown:

Prince/Hayes/Brezec/Murray/Dice/08 1st/Minny 2nd/Toronto 2nd for M Williams/Claxton/S Williams/Nachbar/Magloire

Pistons get a more agressive SF, a young big, end of bench C, and Speedy's contract. It hurts losing a core guy and great defender in Prince but the future looks brighter without the present taking too hard a hit. Losing the picks hurt but the roster will be stacked with youth as is. Depth at SF takes a hit but Hermann should be able to fill the vacancy. Dice is a big loss but there are a few FA bigs available if it becomes an issue but Williams/Sheed/Maxiell/Amir/Nachbar/Magloire/Samb should be able to hold down the fort if need be.

LA breakdown:

Odom/Brown/Critt for Prince/Dice/Collins/Murray

They get a good long defensive SF, a good vet backup PF, a slight downgrade at backup C(cheaper per but 1 year left), and a backup combo G(expiring). Prince (as should Die) should fit this team perfectly and at less money than Odom sans injuries to boot. It hurts to lose Critt but the team looks a bit better after this deal IMO.

NJ breakdown:

Collins/Magloire/Nachbar/S Williams for Odom/Brezec/Minny 2nd/Toronto 2nd

It hurts to lose the potential of Williams but the Nets should be in win now mode if they intend to keep the big 3. Odom, Kristic, Boone, Brezec looks like a better frontline than Nachbar, Boone, Williams, Collins, Magloire. Odom to me seems a perfect fit, he will be fine being the 3rd option behind VC and RJ, get boards, and help keep the flow on O moving smoothly.

They could try and sign a FA big to help fill the vacated roster spots. Birdman, PJ, C Webb, Dale Davis, ???

After thoughts:

I think NJ thinks the longest and Detroit just behind them. Atlanta does it the quickest (with LA just behin em) I would think as they free up some good loot (no Speedy, no big contract for Marvin) making it easier to keep Smith and Chill and a bit later, Horford and one of Critt/Law as well. They could probably resign both Brown and Hayes on the cheap if they work out good. Pretty nice looking future with options.

I'm about to be flamed from every angle, so mote it be. :D

EDIT - changed up draft picks

I don't think Atlanta does this at all. I don't care what per minute stats say, Jarvis Hayes is nowhere near the player Marvin is. Dumping Claxton's contract is nice, but they're not moving Marvin for this.

I think you tried to accomplish to much. This is to big.

I agree the Hawks wouldn't move Marvin for that package and I"m not sure the Nets are particularly fond of that package either.

Not sure why you said the Lakers get an expiring backup PF either - did you forget about Dices extension?

What if Atlanta get Detroit's 08 instead of NJ and NJ get Minny 2nd/Toronto 2nd?

EDIT - I changed the OP to reflect this

I know Marvin >> Hayes but Chill is a damn good player that would fit right in at the starting SF with Hayes backing him up. I don't think the dropoff would be that noticeable. They also would be able to run a lineup featuring Smith at SF, Horford at PF, and Brown at C with Chill and JJ in the backcourt.

I think they would have more flexability both on court and in contract negotiations.

 No I had them getting Nachbar originally and then decided Dice needed to be in it to better entice them. Just forgot to edit that part out as I had typed this up a couple weeks ago and never got around to finishing/posting it till just now. I will edit that thanks..

I just think you need to focus on trying to get one Williams at a time. Neither the Nets or Hawks are gonna wanna part with theirs for what you're offering so gonna have to do better.

Its a good attempt but its a little too ambitious.

Actual GMs usually dont try to do so much in one deal. I dont think dumping Speedy and getting a pick and another project point guard they dont really need would be enough to entice them to give up Marvin.

The fact that Chill is a good replacement waiting in the wings doesnt change the value they should expect in a Williams trade.

If the Pistons are going to upgrade at SF (hard to do - Prince is really a great all around player), I would expect them to package Prince with Amir Johnson and get someone like TMac.

Pistons are playing good this year - no need to make a dramatic change. I haven't seen Marvin play much (does Atlanta ever get on National TV?) but I can't imagine him being better than Prince. Younger, but that's about it. So why should the Pistons throw in another starter and another rotation player to make it happen? I'll pass.

The NJ fans agreed to this exact deal already in 2 threads but may be having 2nd thoughts now that a couple of weeks have passed.

I want a Williams x2 future frontline damn it!

It is much easier to get one or the other, to get both without gutting the present, now that's a bit more challenging.

I feel Williams will be able to take most of the minutes vacated by Dice and not run out of gas in the playoffs, same goes for Marvin. As for Hayes, I don't think we lose much with Hermann taking that spot.

The future would look very bright as well.

Sean Williams is a nice piece as well, so its not like we only get Marvin.

Besides the point though. The deal is too big and as stated before its a real tough sell for Atlanta.

I do like it for LA if they are looking to win it this year. Tay and Dice are both great fits for them if they want to go for it with a nucleus consisting of those two, Kobe, and Bynum. Thats a pretty well built and extremely balanced team with a mix of youth and experience.

The Nets perspective is dependent on how many wins they feel Odom gets them. If they are still sold on winning now with the big 3, may as well add on to that with another solid player. If not, they keep Sean.

Great for a 4 teamer, but theres a reason these things are rare. They are tough to balance.

Probably not.

Check out this one though...

I think you may just be willing to give him up for that package.

I also did a seperate Marvin Williams deal since this 4 way proved a bit cumbersome.

N to the O for NJ. Odom is cool, but we're not moving Sean Williams for less than an elite bigman. Lamar doesn't put us over the top.

lakers don't need to upgrade their sf position at the expense of a downgrade at pf.

Only difference was NJ got Mihm instead of Brezec/Toronto 2nd but Mihm is now hurt and 1 extra year so... can still send Brezec/To 2nd to LA and Mihm to NJ if need be.

The "last two versions" have nothing to do with what the Nets get this time around.

What in the world were you trying to prove with this find?! :dontknow:

The deal in this thread involved giving Sean AND a 1st for McDyess and Wilcox. The one you linked involves not giving up our 1st, GETTING a MIN 2nd (which is practically a 1st), and receiving Odom and Mihm. To sum, Odom + Mihm + NJ1st + MIN2nd >>>>> McDyess + Wilcox.

Also, I should note that the linked proposal was made before New Jersey changed its froncourt lineup, benching Collins and Allen and startting the young Boone and Williams. THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW I FEEL ABOUT SEAN; like most NJ fans, we all knew he had this type of production in him, with more to come. But trust me, after some of the lineup decisions we NJ fans have seen Lawrence Frank, I was resigned to the fact that Coach just wasn't going to ALLOW our young bigs to help us this year.
