They really need to make that deal.
1st maybe. That or

Artest for Pietrus + Hudson

2nd deal

TPE for some contract they dont want to pay (NOT KT)

These deals would work for our roster, but i dont know about 2 First round picks, artest is a mentally and physically iffy type player sometimes, how long would he really last in GS ? and there's nothing wrong with bringing in KT he can grab rebounds

With the volatile nature of the roster, we cant trade any 1sts beyond the one from this season, and even that, that's damn risky.

ROWELL wrote:I never have any really solid, good info on trade potential. I was hearing that the Warriors were really close to Jermaine O'Neal until about a week before the Indiana trade so I just assume I'm being fed BS whenever real names are mentioned. However.

Heard something about Chicago not too long ago but no idea how credible the source is. Joe Smith and Duhon. I don't buy it but thought I'd put it out there to get the annual pre-deadline month of fun rolling a bit early.

Help me out here:

WHO are the Bulls trading Smith & Duhon for?

Doubtful Smith gets traded - he's the best guy on the team right now. He does have another year left on a declining contract.

Duhon is an expiring, as if Viktor Khryapa.

However, remember that John Paxson is trade-shy. He hasnt made an in-season trade since Nov 2003. That's over 4 years ago.

What do you all think of Trade exception and Golden State's unprotected 1st round pick for Kurt Thomas and and the Sonics second round pick?

Kurt Thomas can walk away at the end of the season; so this is just about winning more this year. The Sonics second round pick will probably be about 14 players later than the Warriors first round pick. Both picks are in the area where you draft projects and hope they develop.

Maybe he's going to start another youth movement. Belli, POB and a future 2nd.

Hell no.

No chance at all... we deal our 1st round pick (which as it stands now would be what, 14? 15?) for Kurt Thomas, a rental?!?!

Now I think KT would help but do you really look at the team and think that KT is the missing piece of the puzzle? If not, you cannot trade a 1st for him... especially when we're barely hanging on to the 8 seed...

Ugh.....to hell with the Sonics, they already got two firsts for Kurt Thomas, they're not getting ours as well.

I'm pissed because it should have been us making that deal with the Suns :nonono:

Seattle got 2 1st round picks for paying KT's salary this season. GS should get 1 (Seattle's choice) for paying half of KT's salary. While I wouldn't be that disappointed in just getting a 2nd round pick in the deal, there's no way GS should be giving up picks or moving down in the draft to pay half of KT's salary this season.

Actually, hearing that I have the wrong contract info makes me buy into the rumor more. The championship run is off, Bulls6. Sorry.

I have assumed the Warriors would only be using their exception to acquire pieces not attainable with Mickael Pietrus' contract.

I also think the recent publicity about Milwaukee has more legs regardless of the clear Milwaukee-gate slant soon to hit with the team linked to just about every deal in the rumor mill. But I have even less substantive information to offer on that. The Warriors and Milwaukee have been very close to deals each of the past two seasons and this may be the year both sides finally decide to work something out.

Bucks have nothing I want other than their draft pick.

I've always liked Brad Miller, he's a good passer, and can hit the open shot (he makes $10.5 mil, $11.4 mil, and $12.3 mil over three seasons (including this season). Don Nelson loves Ron Artest (a reasonable $7.4 mil this season, and an early termination $7.4 next season), his strong interior presence, and his offensive/defensive mix. Having him next to Jackson would give the Warriors a strong defensive presence. Of course, he's also somewhat of a nut job - would he make one too many? - and I've got problems with his domestic and animal abuse. Artest and Miller for Harrington, Kosta, O'Bryant (expiring), Pietrus (expiring), and a first gives Sacto cap flexibility and youth, while GS gets the pieces to help them win now. But does Sacto even deal with the Warriors? And are the Warriors spending too much money for the extra wins they get in return?

Pietrus for Charlie Villanueva would give the Warriors another long player, and he's got just $6.1 mil on his contract this season and next (plus a $4.6 mil team option QO for 2009/2010). But is that a Milwaukee fire sale?

Mike Miller continues to be mentioned as available, Memphis looks like they need to retool, and could use some cap relief. He'd be my favorite addition. $8.4, $9.1, and $9.9 left on his contract (including this season) - not an unreasonable amount given his age and production. Warriors exercise the TPE to acquire Miller, and send Belinelli and a first for future considerations, giving the Grizz some cap relief and young pieces, and helping the Warriors jump a place in the WC playoff seedings. Get it done!

Damon Stoudamire is also widely rumored to be available. If CJ Watson continues to play like he did in his debut, Might Mouse is uneeded. But if he falters, exercising the TPE for Damon in a strictly salary-cap relief move for the Grizz would make sense.

A first is too much to give up to rent Thomas from the Sonics. Wilcox would help, but what would it take?

Here are some other guys rumored to be available:

New Jersey guard Jason Kidd, Philadelphia guard Andre Miller, Memphis forward-center Pau Gasol, Memphis swingman Mike Miller, Lakers forward Lamar Odom, Cleveland guard Larry Hughes, Sacramento point guard Mike Bibby, Phoenix power forward-center Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix forward Shawn Marion, Atlanta forward Josh Smith, Chicago small forwards Luol Deng and Andres Nocioni, Chicago center Ben Wallace, Denver forwards Kenyon Martin and Nene, Houston shooting guard Tracy McGrady, Seattle power forward Chris Wilcox, Seattle point guard Luke Ridnour, Miami swingman Ricky Davis, Miami point guard Jason Williams and virtually anyone on the New York Knicks not named David Lee.

http://my.journaltimes.com/post/woelfel ... _deal.html

Amare?! Holy crap, what does it take to get him? Marion could be a good fit, but too expensive. Deng and Nocioni are nice pieces, but Deng is gonna get paid, and Bulls6 is skeptical of any Chicago dealings. K-Mart in his prime would be a great fit for the Warriors, but when was the last time he wasn't broken down? Plus he's scheduled to make $60 gazillion over the next 20 years.

That's not my problem.

I think you're close with your estimate that nothing much will be done in-season this year but Ramon Sessions supposedly holds some minor interest and Villanueva, like it or not, is very much on the Warriors' radar.
Bobby Simmons is not.
