That said Dwight has been too naive and the smart girl just won the lotto. I mean you have to be utterly cautious and not trust ANY girl when you make that kind of money.

It reminds me of this tennis star, i think it's Boris Becker (nickname: boom boom so he might have desserved it anyway but still). He got a child from a model he met in a restaurant and the only sexual act between them was ORAL sex she performed on him ONCE. Yes you read it right.

You can actually get a child from ORAL SEX ... but only when it's performed by a f##### MONEYW#####. Wich means 99 % of the women you will meet when you are a multi-millionnaire.

it takes balls talking on a message board how she tricked him into getting her pregnant

Dwight should have protected his investment, since it isn't an easy situation when you end up having a child with someone you weren't sure you'd want to spend the rest of your life with. I'm sure Royce was thrilled with the news, since she had hit the jack pot.

That aside Dwight will make an excellent father, and I wish him the best of luck. People calling him a hypocrite need to realize nobody is perfect. The only mistake he made was an unplanned pregnancy, but I'm sure everything will workout.

all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of god...

moving on, celebrate a new life...and watch out NBA draft 2028...in which the Magic will probably be selecting him with the #1 pick, as we all know they are destine to get a few more in the next 20 years :D

I dont know what ur talking about, when is the last you have heard Dwight talking about religion? Either way he is an adult and capable of making his own decision. He is still a good guy regardless.
Uh, how bout the fact that he wanted to put a cross on every jersey in the NBA...?

He said such things when he was a naive 18 year old high school kid about to enter the draft. He really hasent said anything remotely close to that since he has been in the league.

I would hope so lol. He got rightfully blasted for such comments, and if he would say something along those lines again I would have to question his mental capacity...

What denominations says premarital sex is ok . ? I think you are making stuff up .

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. What I wrote was that there are denominations that do not condemn premarital sex as an unequivocal sin, and then I quoted an official piece of literature from one such denomination (American Baptist) who holds that viewpoint. Nowhere did I say there are Christian denominations that endorse it as a virtue its members should strive for.

Liqourish wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

so, pray, consult scripture and look for wisedom of fellow christians. Where does it say that it's not a sin? Your interpretation does not make it factual. In fact, what you have quoted only states that one should consult scripture... What you posted is not scripture.

It isn't scripture, you're correct. If you wanted passages I would've given them to you but, you asked me what denominations didn't condemn premarital sex. Thus, I gave you an example of one denomination who doesn't condemn premarital sex buy way of an excerpt from a piece of their official position on a wide range of family topics.

All I was trying to show is that it's a misnomer that premarital sex is universally condemned by all Christians everywhere as a horrible transgression. You asked for an example and I gave it to you.

But, enough of this. This has gone way off topic. It began with my irritation at a few posters that attacked Howard's faith with uninformed comments and I don't feel like turning into a critical examination of the tenets of Christianity at this moment.

Most people don't care about abstinence any more outside of really bare-bones traditional Christians, but that isn't even the point here.

Congratulations to Dwight, and bold prediction:

kookie_819 wrote:Why does religion matter so much? It's his private life, and some people are labeling him as a hypocrite and a sinner, just because he had a child, which is just a part of life that everyone goes through.

Yes, he's Christian. Yes, he got a child before he was married. So what? This doesn't change his beliefs or anything, right? He's still Christian, believes in Jesus, etc., right? The thing is, it's his decision, and probably Royce's as well. I see no problem with him having a kid, even though it's a sin, because Christianity's main point is in love and forgiveness.

And don't you guys ever get the thought that maybe Dwight and Royce wanted the kid?

what's funny is anyone calling dwight a hypocrite needs to stfu b/c they are so wrong...

dwight has said many times he was a christian...never has he said he was perfect

as far as i know, christian's do sin...they arent supposed to, but it happens...

congrats dwight, you cant always live a righteous life in everything you do but you can try and that's really all you can do....im happy for him, im sure all the girls were afraid of him before they saw the dollar signs in him so he got him a nice hot chick...did her good...and now he's got a family...hopefully he can trust this chick

Considering that's a baseless statement, you do have a point.

But, many people following Judaism and Islam still abide by that heavily.

Dwight Howard is not Jewish or Muslim, so that pretty much explains it.

My theory is that Dwight started out much more "traditional", but the NBA lifestyle just made him more relaxed on it. It happens. Doesn't make him a bad guy, and doesn't make him a sinner or a terrible Christian.

And as I said earlier, and was mentioned a few times in this thread, people do things that they shouldn't have done (after thinking twice about it), we all do, and organized religion forgives those people, plain and simple.

He did something wrong, depending how you view it. He'll learn from it, and move on.
