Bulls-Heat Trade Idea

A smaller trade...

Bulls trade:
Kirk Hinrich
Chris Duhon
Viktory Khryapa
Adrian Griffin

Heat Trade:
Daequan Cook
Jason Williams
Alonzo Mourning (immediately cut)
Smush Parker (immediately shot)

I didn't want to include Duhon in the trade but had to due to Kirk's annoying BYC. Hinrich and Duhon would give Miami two established guards. Both are good passers and defend well. Griffin gives Miami another defender, while Khryapa is a young player and expiring contract.

Cook gives Chicago a young guy who could possibly have star potential. He makes our backcourt normal sized. Williams could actually be a good fit for the Bulls, but at the very least he's a big expiring contract that will make it easier to (a.) Facilitate a Gasol trade or (b.) Free up more money to resign Gordon and Deng.

I ahte giving up Cook, but I think I'd do it. But, if we've got our eyes on Derrick Rose, then I don't like it.

Yeah, that's why I was unsure of it from the Heat's perspective. I don't know if this trade would immediately make them so much better that they'd lose out on a top 5 pick, but it would give Wade a backcourt partner for almost the next decade.

As someone mentioned on the Heat board, it'd also eliminate one of the best Wade defenders from a rival.

It doesn't make them instantly better, but it gives them a guard with legit size who actually has star potential. Cook is only 20 years old and he's showing some promise both as a scorer and as a clutch player. He was overlooked because he played with Oden and Conley, but had he stayed an extra year he would have been a clutch player.

This give the Bulls a guy to replace Gordon so they don't have to sign him, but I am tired of people saying Gordon is a PG cause he cannot play that position for any extended period. If the Bulls could somehow keep Duhon, then the trade is good. And if Miami did this trade, they could easily draft (assuming top 5) Beasley, Jordan, Arthur, Lopez, Riek.

Why on earth would Chicago do this? Hinrich is worth far more then that whole Heat package theyd be getting back :crazy:

No deal on the Bulls end. If the Heat want Hinrich they better forget about Rose or Beasley and throw in that lottery pick. I think Hinrich to the Heat would only make sense as a draft day deal.

Look, it's becoming clear that it's going to be very hard for Chicago to facilitate a trade for a star if Wallace is not included.

With that in mind, their best option is to focus on sleepers who one day could be All-Stars. Cook is playing at an extremely high level when you consider his age. This Bulls team cannot be anything greater than mediocre (unless they develop Thomas). For that reason they should absolutely target players who have great potential, and hope they've hit the jackpot.

Man, I just saw that Hinrich is averaging 39% from the field and 29% from 3pt range. His other stats are decent, but being that he's already 27 and not a great athelete, there's no upside there. Then his real contract kicked in this year... why would he be worth a top 10 pick again? The TC's offer is probably as good as it gets.
