I agree that Wallace "is just a turd out there." But once we assasinate him, I think we're just one slump-light guard and a semblence of Tyrus-offense away from elite status. Ultimately this season was destroyed by the huge slumping tendency of Hinrich and Gordon. But I think there is much in this team to build upon.

Well, I know Zach is not great but I still would rather have him over Wallace.
I would give up Wallace for peanuts.
The way we started the game, I was like okay, we will lose this game by how many points???
Then Boylan puts in Tyrus/Gray and Gordon and all of a sudden we start playing awesome and we took the lead.
I was like it's going to hurt us game in and game out because of Du and Wallace starting.

I don't particularly like Zac, and I don't think he's a good fit for this team (we'd still be undersized), but I don't know if the guy has had a fair shake yet. He's played on two awful teams. I can't blame him for ball hogging or slacking on defense when his teammates suck so badly. It'd be interesting to see how he'd do with better teammates.

But that being said, im not advocating that Ben Wallace had a huge game, nor will i say that Gray was just monstrous either though he is obviously and significantly better on the offense side.
All the starters got dinged big time for the huge deficit early in the game. Ben Wallace is the only one who never recovered even a tiny bit from that. The next worse +/- on the team is -8.
I thought that Wallace had his worst game of the "Boylan Era," but if you're a big fan of +/- (I'm not), Wallace has a positive on/off court for the season -+2.8. That's better than Gordon, Hinrich, Smith, Nocioni, Tyrus, and Gray. Deng's our best (+7.6) and Duhon is next (+6.1).
Defend it you'd like.

Gtg quickly:
My summary is that the team turned it on when they went young and then turned it off late in the game.
On the +/-:
I have been watching that stat to see trends. From what I can tell, it points out who your worst and best players were to some extent. Often times the middle guys get their numbers dramatically affected by how much time they spend with those guys. The other thing it points to is runs. If you happen to be on the floor for a run, your fault or not, it dramatically affects the number.
Nocioni and Wallace would be a perfect example tonight. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what Nocioni's +/- was with Wallace, versus without?

Like this year's Blazer team?
