Well for starters, Yao is worth more to an owner than Boozer. He's more marketable. He plays a tougher position to fill, and is better than Boozer on both offense and defense. Okur is terrible this year, and Battier has outplayed him on BOTH ends of the floor. Houston will never trade Yao, but for them to even consider, Deron and Boozer would have to be in the package.

Throwing in Battier makes it worse, not better.

Yao is that much better then Boozer? he sure shows it everytime they play each other doesn't he? Very debatable on who is better Yao or Boozer kinda hard because they dont play the same spot on the floor. But to say Yao is leagues above Boozer is complete Homerism.

Yao is a good defender. Boozer is not. Yao is better on offense than Boozer as well. Boozer's game gives Yao trouble, but Boozer is a 4, not a 5, and Yao's biggest knock is that he isn't very mobile. He struggles with Utah because Okur and Boozer shoot a bunch of long range jumpshots, and for Okur, he's been really bad at that this year. Yao plays extremely well against the NBA's best centers however. He ate Dwight Howard's lunch last time around.

And it isn't debatable, you're right. It is blatant homerism to consider Boozer on Yao's level. He isn't.

Yao IS significantly better than Boozer. Period. End of story.

From a purely basketball standpoint Yao is one of the 5 most untouchable guys in the league (along with LeBron, Wade, Howard, etc.). Throw in the marketing angle and he might even be #1. So no way they trade him for Boozer.

This belongs in the Fantasy Basketball thread. No reality here.
Bill Clinton slept with an intern. A consenting adult and he got impeached and nearly disbarred as a result. Donald Trump went to parties showcasing underaged women brought in as basically prostitutes, and he says it's nothing.

Double standard?

Boozer and Yao are comparable on the offensive end, and no one can argue that they aren't yeah Boozer is bad at defense, and this trade is way off here. But Yao isn't leagues above boozer like I said.

yeah Yao isnt getting traded (atm), I tried, trust me

but even if Yao WAS somehow on the market, Boozer isnt half his value, and for the record, Battier = Brewer

Yao and Boozer are comprable on the OFFENSIVE end, yes, but overall its not even close.

Yao is a hundred times the defender Boozer will ever be, plays a much harder position to fill, and has a marketability that Boozer will never even touch.

Yao has untouchable status, while Boozer well really doesn't.

Yao going to Utah would give the Jazz about Gazillion dollars a year.

The Rockets and the Rockets players are getting so much money from China, and other revenues its not even funny. Yao is more valuable from a business stand point then any other player in this league, business means money wise that is.

Houston keeps Ming, Battier - Utah keeps Boozer and Okur. Utah beats Houston in the playoffs again. The fact that the Jazz would also trade Brewer for Head makes this a laughable trade. The trade would place Battier in the mix with AK and Harp and Korver's minutes, so that doesn't work, and Head would have to compete with Miles and Korver and maybe even Almond for minutes @ the 2, so this doesn't really make the Jazz better at all.

This may belong on the player comparison board, but for what it's worth

Statistically:

Boozer Ming

ppg - 23.3 21.8
rpg - 10.8 10.4
apg - 2.9 2.5
fg % - 55% 49%
blk - .50 2.3
stl - 1.36 .51
to - 2.6 3.4

Ming has a clear advantage in blocks, and is inferior to Boozer in each of the other significant categories listed here, and Ming plays 2 minutes per game more than Boozer.

It's not THAT bad....but Rockets pass.

Yao's ability to anchor your team's defense and Boozer's ability not too pretty much makes it a no from the get-go.
