I can see both Memphis and Houston jumping for joy over those two deals.

+1000

Two variations on deals that've been proposed here in the past month or so, each of which has generally been met with "I don't think that the other team would do it," except that the current versions are even worse for the other teams than the ones that we've seen in the past.

In other words:

I would jump for joy at those outcomes;
The other teams would flee in horror.

I love when we assume the rest of the league are stupids, for sure I'd love those trades, but ... pst.... the other team must agree.

Trade machine is like a masturbation, look like sex but isn't

There's an article in the Houston Chronicle today that says that the Rockets GM has not MADE OR RECEIVED any calls regarding trading McGrady. meanwhile McGrady is denying he's the one who started the rumors, or that he's even asked to be traded.

Now, they may be blowing smoke down there about all that, but even so, if Paxson did suggest the trade made by the OP in this thread, I have a feeling Darryl Morey (the Rockets GM) would either slam the phone down or just start laughing hysterically (or both)

Being a former basketball player doesn't necessarily make one a good salesmen or trader. Sure Pax made some deals with Isiah but what else has he done to indicate he has any business savvy whatsoever?

I didnt realize thomas all of a sudden got better than smith. Mark my words, Thomas never starts for chicago until his 4th year unless smith goes down. Hell, he doesn't even start ahead of Scola right now. Scola has been very reliable the past 10-15 games. Looks like he is really learning the NBA game with every week that passes. Spurs are idiots for letting him go like that. By the way, you need to add Khyrapa in the memphis deal to make it work and then hope houston takes griffin instead.

That being said, great trade, but it will never happen. It is what it is....a nice wet dream. But if that deal ever went down, we would clearly be a top 5 NBA team.

being part of an organization that's won multiple championships and having intimate knowledge of how teams are constructed and what it takes to construct those teams AND having a degree from notre dame in business administration does give him some level of credibility, i would think.

not to mention he's one of many, many gm's in the league that were former players, a lot of whom are far worse in their decision and deal making.

3 ways trade, this will help all teams

bulls trade
ben wallace, gordon, 2008 first round pick

memphis trades
gasol, mike miller

houston trades
mcgrady, head
-------------------
bulls receive
gasol, miller

houston receives
ben wallace, gordon

memphis receives
mcgrady, head, bulls 2008 first round pick

this trade works
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t...&cash=

Bulls starting line up
Gasol
nocioni
deng
miller
hinrich

Houston's starting line-up
YAO
Ben Wallace
battier
ben gordon
alston

Grizzlies starting line-up
Darko
warrick
gay
mcgrady
conley

The good for the bulls they get there low post scorer and they dont have to worry about gordons contract

The good for houston, they get a good shooter(ben gordon to replace mcgrady) and also they get ben wallace who would look good next to YAO. Plus the rockets lack in centers so wallace would help.

The good for the Grizzlies, they get mcgrady who would look good next to gay. And in the future the grizzlies could be the next big 3 with mcgrady, gay, ?. Also the grizzlies would be getting a pg/sg in Head and bulls 2008 first round pick.

All those trades are not very good for the other teams. But seriously how does Wallace and Gordon plus a draft pick get you Gasol and Miller come on now.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I'm not a huge fan of Gasol's, but he has been playing better in the last couple weeks. He had 43 and 11 last night against Golden State

Gasol got his team to the playoffs back 2 back years in the West (pretty hard to do), but I agree, these trades are too one-sided for the Bulls.
