Wait a second. Why is Miami-Atlanta being replayed?

The Hawks and Miami Heat must replay the final 51.9 seconds of their game last month because the NBA said the official scorer ruled incorrectly that Shaquille O'Neal fouled out. It will be the first time since 1982 the league has sent teams back on the court for a replay.

Didn't we get screwed by this same Atlanta crew last year? Didn't the NBA say "tough luck"? WTF?

I believe the difference in our case was that we only lost 2 points on the scoreboard, and our team didn't catch it. From what I've read about this, it was a player fouling out being ruled incorrectly, and when the team argued that they were wrong they "overruled" them as the staff are permitted.

But something fishy is going on in ATL. That staff should be fired.

You don't think it's a legit question? Both teams got screwed by the Atlanta score keepers, yet the Heat get a do over while the Raptors don't. How does that make any sense?

Will they have to put the same players on the court, that were on at the time?

Will they introduce the starting lineups twice?

What about the fans who attended the first game? Should they not get free tickets to see the last 59 seconds of the game they paid to see? Will those fans who paid to see the first game have to leave after 59 seconds to let in the paid customers for the second game?

Keep in mind Americans will sue over almost anything.

i was pretty mad too. altho' we lost by 2 points, that point difference made the difference in the last minute (in terms of timeouts used, plays called because we think we're down by 3-4)

We protested after the game was over (no one on our staff caught it while we were playing). Miami protested during the game but the Atlanta score keeping people said "No, we're right, Shaq has 6 fouls and he's out." That's why they get to replay the game.

I'm sure that it's because of our error that Miami is getting a replay. Twice egregiously screwing up a job that a pimple-faced high schooler can do compotently with ease will do that. I think Stern is trying to send a message to the Hawks scorekeeping staff. I don't think the decision was made due simply because of the Miami situation, but rather the decision was made after looking at the past history of the Atlanta scorekeepers. As they say, once is an accident, twice is a trend.

Raptors get always screwed by the Hawks
1. I remember one time around I think the 2000-2001 season when the Raptors were sleeping....... A Hawk fan pull the fire alarm in their hotel and the Raptors were a little tired and Hawks beat them
2. That Score keeper thing was gay and that could have made Raptors History with 48 wins.
3. Then this TJ Ford issue....

What an embarrassment to the Hawks.. What are they doing, employing f'n amateurs trying to do a professional job.. This is just pathetic. I've lost a lot of credibility with their scorekeepers, but this just brings the credibility down to 0..

And Hawks fans are even complaining to Stern. That's absurd. If you want to complain, do so to your amateur scorekeepers.

Should read:

"We're human and make a hell of a lot more mistakes then you'd expect. They usually favour our team, but they're not malicious. We have more senior moments than any other scoring staff in the league. They're good at making mistakes. It happened again. There's not much we can do about it except try again next time."

The Raptors shouldn't have had to file a complaint or bring up the issue. It is not a team's job to keep track of points--that's why they have scorekeepers. A team's priorities should be to take care of themselves and let the NBA deal with the rules and scoring.

I'm not going to flip out about this because who knows what could have happened but really the NBA should consider changing that rule.
