What could this team do with Jason Kidd at the point?
Would we be a motivated team or what? I truly think that is the missing piece to this team getting to a higher level.
He would have more than RJ and VC to get the ball to; I think if the AS has any way they can do it, they should consider it.
Kidd probably wouldn't want to come here, but it seems like he could come in and guide these guys to another level.
Who would we have to lose to get him? Probably a big man and 2 backcourt players.
I know who our GM is, but it is food for thought. Look for Bynum's emergence has done for the Lakers. Just fill a certain hole on a team, and the outlook changes dramatically.

Jason Kidd is among my top 5 players. It would take a great deal to acquire him, and it would be extremely difficult. I don't see us being good trade partners due to all the players we would need to include.
It would be for the short term (22 million), so that's another reason why I would stay away from any Jason trades, unless we could lock him up for another two or three years. Joe Johnson would benefit greatly playing along side Jason Kidd and he would free up our entire team.
It would take Josh Smith or Al Horford. I really don't see them having a interest for Marvin. However, by adding Jason we would become a true playoff contender with the other pieces we have, and that's even if we have to give up Al or Josh Smith. I believe Shelden Williams would need to be included as well. The obvious fillers would be our expiring contracts.

I'm not as high on Jason Kidd as some, I think his defense has slipped quite a bit from the NJ finals seasons and his inability to score the ball has become a little ridiculous. Beyond that, dealing for Kidd means dealing for a 34 year making $20m for the next two years who is on the backside of his career. That being said, he would definitely help on both sides of the ball since he is a better defender, distributor, and rebounder than AJ (he isn't a better scorer though, which is pretty unimpressive). I messed around with the trade machine and found a deal that consisted of us sending out: Lue, Lo, AJ, Zaza, and Al and getting back Kidd in return. That trade also works with Josh Smith but that would be really stupid on Atlanta's part. Anyway the Al deal sends out all of our expirings plus our starting and backup centers. We are stuck with Kidd's contract this summer which means we can't resign Josh or go after another free agent.
Like you said, look at Bynum's emergence for the Lakers. They didn't trade Bynum for Kidd when the Nets came calling and they look pretty smart because of it. That Horford package was what we thought could land us Amare during the summer 3-team deal, or in other words, what Minny would accept for KG. Kidd's value is lower than those two players.

I think he'd make us a strong playoff contender, but the cost to acquire him would leave us as a early exit candidate. The truth is that if we give up Al or Josh then defensively we'll be too weak to be serious in a series. We'd have to make another deal to shore up that area. Joe or Marvin doesn't make sense for them unless they have another trade planned to move Richard Jefferson or Vince Carter. Our rosters don't match up well for a single deal that solves anything, it would have to be a 3-way or another deal would have to be on deck.

Not worth the trade it would take. I don't know how much better we'd be with him on the current roster. New Jersey doesn't exactly have an offense (or defense) to call home about. We definitely do not need another terrible shooter/scorer on our team.
I really think Jason Kidd is incredibly overrated this season just because of his triple doubles. The Nets are are 5-5 when he gets one (17-17 on the year) and he struggles to get the 10 points in each of them. He has scored under 10 points in 9 games this season, only scored more than 15 in 8 games, only hit 20 once. Shooting 36% on the year, turning the ball over almost 4 times a game.

Jason Kidd in ATL would leave us capable of winning the division and make us a top 4 team in the East. The experienced backcourt of JKidd and JJohnson would be tops in the East. (Maybe the league?)
And we could have had him if not for BK and the ATL Spirit. Imagine a trade to NJ of AL Harrington (a native Jersian), Zaza Pachulia and the draft rights to Brandon Roy.
That's right, in 2006 our beloved BK, with a little ingenuity, could have gotten us a superstar. Instead of Shelden williams and yet ANOTHER lottery pick.

Andre Miller would make the Hawks better than Jason Kidd when you factor in what we would have to give up to get the particular point guards
I like Andre Miller. Alot. Been a fan of his since his days in Utah. But what success has he ever had in this league? What have his teams EVER done? Adding Andre Miller to a bad (or even average) team doesn't equal success. Jason Kidd has a track record of success, both personal and team wise. He's been to the Finals (twice) and has extensive playoff experience beyond that. He's the active leader in career triple doubles.
Kidd and JJ would get us to the playoffs. Kidd, JJ and Smoove would make us contenders in the East.
Andre Miller can make a good team better. J-Kidd can make a bad team great.

1.Kidd plays with two players among the top 10 at their positions and they aren't great so why would the Hawks be great.
2.If you remove Joe,Smith,Marvin,or Horford and add Kidd then I believe you we are in a much worse position long term and a little better now. If you add Andre Miller and keep Horford,Joe,Smith, and Marvin then we are better now and we won't lose much in the future.

What Jason Kidd would be worth to this team, I don't think it would be really worth it to trade for him. If he were on this team though with no strings attached, just for **** and giggles, I think we would probably be the best team in the East barring any of our injuries. It's a bit of a stretch to say that, but I think Kidd's still a top point guard behind Nash. The only thing lacking from Kidd is a jump shot, not to mention that he's not getting any younger as I type this post.

The other guy you mentioned, Nash would be perfect because we need a shooter too.
