If iguodala becomes a potent enough offensive enough threat that he commands double (not to mention triple) teams, he becomes more valuable.

That's what this team needs. They don't need to be a gunner like Iverson but it has to be somebody that the defense respects enough to force a double team. That's what sets NBA offenses in motion: one or more players who need serious coverage.

In my mind, none of those stats have anything to do with why he may need to be traded. My reason for being ready to trade him is that he has an inflated ego with regard to his skill level and is not going to be happy with the reduced offer he will receive after this season. If he is forced to accept it, because no-one else offers more, he will be embarrassed and playing in a depressed state. That is no good.

If he were the same modest, high energy guy, just trying to do what is asked of him that he was before Iverson was traded he would be great to have forever ... but not now ... he has crossed the line. He now thinks he is a star and has begun being critical of his teammates. What is next ? He is now damaged goods and must be moved.

You are an amazing arm chair psychologist. You would have traded Michael Jordan for the same reasons.

Iguodala hasn't said anything negative about his teammates. If you're going to trade him because he's unhappy about losing, well, good going dr. phil.

Iguodala was a PG in high school. He wanted to be the PG at Arizona. I still see times where he passes up his shot too much. I find it hard to believe that he has the inflated ego these armchair psychologists have already labeled him as having. I find it much more likely that he's trying to force himself to be the leader this team desperately needs (because the only other viable option, Andre Miller, doesn't have it in his personality), and at 23 years old with only 3 years in the league, Iguodala doesn't have the experience required to be a great leader.

But hey, if dond labels him damaged goods, he must know best. All we need is a bunch of boy scouts who don't care about winning and don't have the talent to compete and dond would be happy.

didn't you hear the news , we can trade Iggy and just find a guy off the street like Jamario Moon and he too can average what Iggy's averaging.

Iggy has the right to be frustrated, it's not like he's saying "These guys need to change /get better" he's say WE and US. He's taking responsibility. This topic has gone on way too far, tho. Iggy shouldn't be traded because , he the only true young talent we have.

I guess I am not surprised people already are trying to run Iguodala out of town.

I mean people have tried to run Wilt, Barkley, Schmidt, McNabb, AI, Barkley amnd any other good but not perfect/championship winning player out of Philadelphia before any of us have been been fans.

Iguodala is not at a star level like those guys, but maybe this means Iguodala is getting good, otherwise the unreasonable expectations wouldn't be creating these calls for him to go.

The Sixers shouldn't trade Iggy, he's a great second option like a Rudy Gay, Josh Howard.

He's not a franchise player, the Sixers just need to find another 1/2nd option through free agency/draft/trades.

If Carney weren't such a bust, I would have no problem with seeing a lineup of Iguodala/Carney/Thad get some time. Iguodala does have more of an unselfish mentality to the game, and now does appear to be struggling to get the scoring mentality.

I thought it was a fact that AI (the original) was holding Iguadola back from becoming a superstar? What happened?

Where are all the gleeful Sixers vs. Nuggets record comparisons? What happend to the young , exciting, team that moved the ball and played basketball the "right way"?

This board has changed a lot in just one year. As a fan of both the Sixers (lifelong) and AI (entire career), all I can say is that the Sixers are borderline unwatchable this year, and won't be until some major changes are made.

I am happy that AI is surrounded by a good team (that still has its own issues - now I just want George Karl to be traded for Jim O'brien, and they'll be in business), and can only hope that the Sixers find the "next" AI in this years draft. I'm personally hoping we lose every game left, and end up with one of Rose, Mayo or Beasley. Trade Miller!

Let the Nuggets win a championship with that loaded roster before going nuts on the 'Sixers failed Iverson' tirade. Still was the best move for the franchise moving forward, and probably was a few years too late.

I would like for you to find quotes of someone on this board actually saying that before using it as an argument. That was not the prevailing notion around here

Mostly, we were all surprise Dala played as well as he did after the trade. there was nothing he showed while AI was here to suggest that he would play as aggressively and good as he has since the trade.

It was only after the trade that people wanted to know why he wasn't playing this well with AI. Some say it was AI's fault, but most have put the blame on Dala for not willing to step up while AI was here- he lacked the assertiveness to demand to be more involved in the AI/Webber dominated offense.

Why do Philly fans root for the underdog sooooooo much and never forget the contributions of the underdog even when the underdog's current production suggests that he was PLAYING OUT OF HIS MIND AT THE END OF LAST SEASON. Some of you Philly fans will continuously fall for the same late season BS everytime. Iggy played well after Iverson left because the book wasn't yet written on him. Iggy played well at the end of last season JUST LIKE SHAWN BRADLEY ALWAYS DID. Don't let Iggy pull the Shawn Bradly move on us, WE HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE!!!!!!!!!

If you are a Sixers fan and you "feel lucky" to have a player the caliber of Iguodala on the team, YOU DON'T DESERVE TO EXPERIENCE A CHAMPIONSHIP PARADE. You trade players like Iguodala to improve your team AT THE DROP OF A HAT. dond is correct with Iggy's inflated ego ruining him. He shows up his weaker teammates when they make mistakes. That's not a typical personalty trait of any athlete that I can think of who is a winner. Who actually shows up there teammates? He also now looks kinda resentful when a player like Lou Will does well. You don't try to pull your teammates down and discourage them by demonstrating to the world your disapproval of there mistakes every time you get a chance as if you are not mistake prone yourself.

You just compared Andre Iguodall to Shawn Bradley...............your opinion is now nil.

Just answer me this....why do you hate Him so much? Huh?

You say you don't want us to overpay him when in reality we're not going to he's going to get 10 mil a year which is just around what guys who are Andre's age usually get. so I can't be that.

You say it's because he's not a leader.. I can understand that but it's been said before that this is his first time in this role ever....the guy has to learn how to be a leader. so that's no good.

you it's because he's replacable. Yeah but not really, you stated in a nother topic that if you place career backups like Anthony Parker and Carlos Delfino could do what Iggy is doing...........just let that set in a bit. Parker was a bust who has found a system that he can strive in. and Delfino was cotemplating quiting basketball before this year. They cannot replace Dala, sorry. He is replacable but you often have to give up a lot to get that guy.

so what did he do to make you hate him so much.

SendEm must have worked for the Toronto Raptors brain trust that drafted Hoffa. He's bitter.

You used brain trust in the comparison...that's quite a compliment for anyone who compares Shawn Bradley to Andre Iguodala.

Remember when Bradley and Sharon Wright bungee jumped together at the Jersey Shore? One of the funniest news clips I ever saw.

I can't wait till Iggy begins to average 25 points per game towards the end of the season so that his easily fooled fans can say "See I told you so, he is still the same Pippenesque player that is worth $65 million!" Then I will point back to this thread with the Shawn Bradley comparison, a known notoriously "great" late season 76er performer on BAD teams when many other teams are tanking and mentally already on summer vacation.

Do you know what's appalling? The fact that this above average player gets the attention of a star player on our message board. Too many of our Philly sports fans are USE to the losing and appreciate mediocrity. AJ Feeley was a hero in this town after throwing like 25 interceptions against the Patriots just because he outperformed expectations with the touchdowns that he DID throw, so it's of no surprise that Iggy has fans in this town too, like he is of special talent. People have a stomach for mediocrity in Philly but they don't even know it.

You can replace Iggy with combinations of Jamario Moon, Anthony Parker, Kelenna Azubuike, Raja Bell, Bruce Bowen, who are ALL players acquired OFF OF THE STREET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are players in the NBA who have been drafted LATER in the draft than Iggy's #9 selection who play the same wing position and are far better players or in the same realm like: Kobe, Stephen Jackson 2nd round, Paul Pierce, Rashard Lewis 2nd rd., Cuttino Mobley 2nd rd., Corey Maggette, Ron Artest, Andrei Kirilenko, Emanuel "Manu" Gin

i like iggy but there like almost any player are two very different views on him...

one side sees him as underrated by most accounts, a guy who does it all, fills the stat sheet and is a solid part of the future going forward

others see a guy who is about to get paid who has yet to avg more than 20 ppg but will get paid like a guy who is supposed too with little regard to the other things he does

both sides have characteristics about iggy which are true and prevalent and combined tell the whole story

imo, iggy is what a 9th overall pick should be...a solid nba starter who can look real good at times but for the most part is consistant and solid...he is where his developement should...now i think in our rebuilding effort, we as fans want something to grasp and hold onto to say the future is bright...and since we really didnt get it in the iverson trade, we lean on iggy which isnt fair...hes a nice player but he isnt a franchise guy...he isnt even a pippen..hes a good basketball player and thats it...we need to accept that he is above average but our hopes and feelings shouldnt be too tied into him bc we havent rebuilt quite right yet...at some point soon, we will have that young franchise guy and then we can get behind him, whether its in this draft, through rfa, or via a guy already on roster (thad maybe?)...

until then lets accept iggy for what he is and not have these unreal expectations and feelings...he can be traded but he is our best trade chip right now...no reason to just get rid of him for the sake of doing it...
