They really need to shake up the dunk contest if they want renewed interest. I guess I'd like to see guys like Andre Iguodala, Rudy Gay, Josh Smith, and LeBron James.
Maybe, just for fun, raise the rim to 11 feet?
Perhaps putting Charles Barkley in a dunk tank (filled with Jell-O or Krispy Kremes) that is triggered when any contestant performs a dunk so thunderous that is raises the crowd's decibel level to some predetermined level?
Who do we want to see in the Dunk Contest?

that is the best suggestion to re-generate interest in the Dunk contest i've ever heard.
you've got something new and original and sponsorpship all covered.
no joke - you sould send that idea to TNT or the NBA - it's a winner.

Dunk Contest Invites Reportedly Going Out
January 12, 2008 2:46 PM
AOL's Randy Kim talked to Jamario Moon about it last night:
On Friday, Moon also said that he had been asked by the league to participate in this year's Slam Dunk contest during All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, which left Jamario, well, over the moon.
"I just found out today that I got an invite," said a beaming Moon. "It'll be big."
As the slam dunk contest isn't quite what it was back in 1985, or even 2000, it was only natural to ask Moon if he planned on participating. The happy-go-lucky rookie suddenly got serious (or as serious as he can get) and seemed appalled at the very thought of not entering.
"Oh, no doubt!" answered Moon. "I'm taking advantage of every opportunity to be a part of something that the legends were part of. I'm taking advantage of everything."
Moon tells the National Post that he still regrets a high school dunk contest he lost to Gerald Wallace.

I was thinking why was Moon competing against Gerald in a high school drunk contest when Moon is only a rookie. I didn't realize he is already 27...

Thats what has made his sudden breakout such a feel good story.
He had been playing in various minor leagues, he went undrafted(2001) and was invited to a Raptors camp, he impressed the Raps and they signed him to a contract. So 6 years in between he had been playing else where grinding it out in crappy leagues.
Way to stick with it Jamario.

Yeah looks young, and most impressively he plays young with alot of enthusiasim. Not that 27 is old by any means, but he is a bundle of energy so i thought he was some young stud picked out of nowhere..
Well good for him for sticking it out and getting into the league, and succeeding at that.

Props to the Raptors for finding him too. I love how they find players who are unknown to many. Calderon, Garbojosa, Parker were all big in the European game but the Raptors brought them over and had confidence that they could contribute.
Now look, Calderon is a top PG, Parker is contributing very nicely and Garbo was doing well prior to injury.
So you have 4 players plucked out of nowhere all playing important roles bar Garbo who would be if it wasn't for injury.
