Boston's Schedule

Post#1 » by Mad Balla 15 » Sat Jan 12, 2008 11:58 pm

I've definitely come to the conclusion that David Stern and his NBA pals got together and built the best possible schedule for the Celtics. I respect that Boston has done thus far in the season but they have yet to play a game against Dallas, San Antonio, and Pheonix. Not to mention they've gone on only 1 WC road trip I believe but have only taken on the easy WC teams with the exception of the Lakers and Utah. They have played Houston and Denver once but other than that, they've pretty much just beat up on the teams in the West that everyone knew wouldn't be that good.

Their first game against a WC elite team (Dallas, SA, PHX) is the last game of this month. So almost until Februray until they take on an elite west coast team. Give some other teams this kind of a schedule and I'm sure their season would be looking a lot different too. This is not to say that Boston hasn't worked for their record, they have, but it hasn't been that hard.

Hey with some of the calls the Celtics have gotten this season I can see where you're coming from but they're still 30-4.

Other teams have gotten off to hot starts the last couple of years too but it's not like Boston isn't going to be playing those elite Western Conference teams so it'll all even out in the end.

They've beaten the Lakers pretty convincingly twice this season. Depending on who you talk to the Lakers may or may not be an elite team.

The whole Boston team is becoming like DWade 2.0 with the calls.

breaking news: when something in the NBA is great, RealGM decides to hate it.

Like I said in my post, I give Celtics credit for their record. They've worked for it and deserve it but I disagree with your point about "all things even out in the end."

I know a lot of people may be thinking this but I disagree with that thought. My reason why I disagree is because of two things - chemistry and confidence. When you get a team put together like the Celtics, it usually takes time to gel together and become a team so everyone trust eachother. So when you put them up against weaker competition and they see their destroying that competition, winning their games by 10+ points it adds to the chemistry of the team and definitely boost's their confidence.

So now when they play an elite team from the West they'll have great chemistry and confidence as a team thus this may change the outlook of those games. Whereas imagine this. Say they started off their first month playing Dallas twice, San Antonio once, Pheonix once, Detroit twice etc...I can probably bet they wouldn't start out the same way they did. So pretty much what I'm saying is now that they have that chemistry and confidence as a team that they can beat the Dallas, PHX, SA type teams. Whereas at the start of the season they likely wouldn't have that confidence and chemistry and it would be harder for them to beat those teams.

So essentially now, they may go 4-2, 5-1 or 6-0 vs Dallas, PHX and SA whereas if they played them at the start of the regular season they would have probably 4-2 at best IMO. I don't know if the way I said this all makes sense but I hope you get the gist of what I'm trying to say.

Let's call the WHAAAAAAAAAAAAMBULANCE! *sniff* *sniff* "Boston gets all the calls!" *pout* *whine* "Their schedule has been easy!"

I'm glad I'm not a mangina like a lot of you people.

Boston plays killer defense, they share the ball(too much sometimes) and they genuinely play like a TEAM. That is why they are 30-4. PERIOD.

okay, so instead of facing those teams early, they now have to face them late and in turn be more drained for the playoffs.

If you look at the Celtics schedule in the past, it's similar to the schedule this year. They take a big western road trip right after the all star break and a Texas swing in March. It's not much different this year, except the Celtics are good and people are looking at excuses.

Some kind of conspiracy is even more ridiculous taking into account that the schedule was made and released shortly after the Garnett trade. You think Stern had enough time to change up the entire schedule in favor for the Celtics in a few days? It takes months to coordinate the schedule with the hockey teams and other events at the arenas. Taking these things into account, you start to see how ridiculous this theory is.

the game vs. NJ was disgusting..GLEN **** DAVIS was getting away with offensive pushoffs..don't even get me started on Pierce..

If Dallas was in the East last year, they would've won 70+

netsforce, when are you going to accept that your team is soft as hell, clumpsy as hell, can't hit their free throws etc etc etc?

the nets should have won that game. its not as if the celtics brought their A game last night. the celtics defense is unbelievably good, but they have no control over the other teams free throw percentage.

i think this team is actually softer than the raptors, and thats saying a lot since i'm a raptor fan as well.

and, in general, the soft schedule being brought up is wack, considering they have beat every western team rather easily. and are we really considering the suns, mavs and spurs elite? are they really playing elite basketball right now? to me the lakers, hornets and nuggets are in the same boat with wins...and frankly, when the suns lost to the wolves....is anyone really thinking the celtics will have a hard time with any of those teams?

offense comes and goes. but their defense is legit. they've already embarrassed the nuggets, warriors and lakers. it really shouldn't be that hard, since the mavs, suns and spurs all look like they've lost a step this year.

netsforce, your celtics hate is bordering unbearable. i'm not even a die hard celtic fan, but dear god...give it up!
