Honestly, I think just keeping Delonte West as a shooter with healthy Allen would have been better and I agree Allen compares to Richmond.gilbertgoes05 wrote:-= original quote snipped =-
so far, i would say yes. heck, their stats are even similar. 19 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for Mitch in his first year is WAS. 18 points and 4 rebounds per game for Allen.
The catch is without Allen, Ainge wouldn't have acquired Garnett. Garnett was worth that pick and everything else.
No Ray, no 30 win Celtics.
Bye bye Beal.

He has a habit of chewing on straws. I think the Bog show did a piece on Butler and his obsession of chewing on straws a while back.

Caron Butler chews on mcdonalds straws during the games.
I find it somewhat funny to see him promoting the mcdonalds brand behind the straws while being a shareholder of Burger King :p

But, could you imagine if they didn't trade for Allen, they'd have a better bench and a bigger window for a championship.
They could have West, Wally, and with the draft pick, Green, Yi, or a big man like Noah or Hawes or trade down and get a point guard like Law.
Not having a backup center or point guard may hurt them.

oh the things you don't get to know because you're a good 1000 miles away.

if they hadn't traded for Allen, i think they would've gone with Yi. let's see how that looks:
Yi/Perkins
Garnett/Scalabrene
Szcerbiak/Posey
Pierce/Allen
West/Rondo
you have an upgrade at C. A downgrade at the 2 or 3. an upgrade at PG with West and Rondo as the backup. and a whole lot more depth.
worse? better?
i personally think they'd be better off w/o allen. depth can go a long ways in this league. we certainly showed that tonight. the season isn't even half way done yet. they will eventually see the effects of lack of depth.

just back from the game and I see I have a few pages of reading
to do. I'm wondering how many visits we had from the green guys...
but first....
playoff game atmosphere, I have not heard the phone booth rockin
like that since Juan Dixon dropped 35 on CHI which was the last
playoff win I saw.
gutty, scrappy, win. Nobody will probably have a very pretty line
in the box score but what a win. All our vets played with real
determination. I was trying to get on the radio after the game
to say that in addition to the vets playing tough hard nosed ball,
I think I can see dividends already from the locker room re-arrangements.
The young guys were more focused and played a lot better which
really bodes well for this team not just for this season, but for years
to come.
What an explosion when AD hit the 3 to put us in front! Awesome.
now I gotta go back and read what people are talkin about...

seemed like the right call to me but I had a bad angle on it
no intent to hurt but it sure looked like the got their
feet tangled a bit. I'll watch the TV later. Can't blame the
ref too much if he did get fooled on the play.

they got a few good cheers on their highlights but nothing like
the noise going down when AD hit his (3) shot or when DS stole
the ball and brokeaway at the end. It was bedlam.
I said earlier it was like the CHI series. There is one other
game I would compare it to as well. UT here last year on
MLK day when Gil dropped 50 on them incl the game winner.

That was a questionable call in the end of the game with the 24 second violation, but you won. Winning by 7 is better than losing by 20.
I'll see ya on Monday.

Wizards 2007: 20-15
And the talent on the bench and is SOOOOOOOO much better this season than last year. But all the haters have to come out and act like their hatred for Gil is justified.

again, have not watch the replay yet but it seemed to me the ball
grazed the rim on the shot, a close call that they could easily miss.
but Rivers should have gotten T'd up for that.
