Good one.

For those who say you don't have the best duo in the league must be forgetting that you have Kobe Bryant on your team. :nonono:

The way I look at it...if I'm going to vote for the best duo....I'm basically going to vote for the 1st duo I would choose if I had to pick. Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum wins hands down every time.

Once again, half of that duo is Kobe Bryant. That means Kobe Bryant is on your team. You don't get it? Are the Knicks driving me insane?

Not only is Andrew Bynum becoming an absolute beast in record time....not only do he and Kobe seem to be developing some serious chemistry....but Kobe is hands down the best player in the league and will probably win the MVP this year IMO. You take that every time. Duncan/Parker are only considered because of their track record.

Yeah, that track record doesn't mean anything, does it?

So ungrateful. Sure, Duncan has a great track record period. He has 4 rings. But that's only 1 more than Kobe lol. And to be honest, my prior point aside, I'd take the Lakers situation over the Spurs' at this moment in time.

The Spurs have a great chance to win more titles in the next few years.....but what comes after that? After Duncan, the Spurs will almost definitely have to suffer some losing years to aquire another franchise player in the draft that fits their system. They'll most likely want to replace Duncan with another great big, just as you guys replaced Shaq with Bynum. Right now you guys have a future franchise center to build around for the next decade and a half. And for the better part of the next decade, Kobe will still one of the best players in the league if not the best. Baring serious injuries, you guys are guaranteed a great stretch of winning basketball with plenty of chances to win titles.

Do my posts reek of envy?

Yes, but it's understandable.

It's not that I'm ungrateful. It's that I have that much esteem for Duncan, who is criminally underrated on these boards and by basketball fans in general. In my mind, he is hands down the best player in the league.

Nobody has a bigger impact on both ends of the court, and with the exception of Diesel nobody's done what he's done over the past decade by anchoring four championship teams. That deserves the utmost respect, and it is sorely lacking amongst the average fan.

Much of your stance as stated is talking about down the road, the future of our franchise as Andrew continues to develop. No doubt Drew's future looks exceedingly bright -- but we simply have no idea what the finished product will look like.

Duncan, on the other hand, is a proven commodity who has already established himself, in my mind, as one of the 10 best players to ever play the game. And he's still going strong, and will be until he's 35. Pair him with either Parker or Ginobili -- take your pick -- and you've got two proven, All-Star, championship-caliber players.

It's no shame that I rate Kobe and Drew behind that. For the moment.

Shouldn't Deron Williams/Carlos Boozer be on the list?

This is a great thread. Good question is being posed.

The irony IMO is that we didn't even think Kobe and Bynum would ever become a duo in the beginning of the season.
The fact that Bynum has elevated his game so dramatically and that Kobe has truely embraced him as his partner (hopefully for many years to come) is stunning. That alone gets them extra points in my view as a great duo.

That said, for now, I'd have to give a slight edge to Duncan plus Parker/Ginobilli.

They have the most trade value. You can trade Kobe and Bynum and get any 2 players in the league for them including Duncan and Parker. You can not however give the Lakers any 2 players from a team for them were the Lakers would except.

I have no idea how you guys can say Duncan and Parker are better due then Nash and Amare. First Nash and Amare have a higher field goal %, second they avg. more rebounds, third they avg. more assist(Nash is #1 in the league) and forth Nash is 2 time NBA MVP.

i think if the team has 5 players scoring close to 10+ a game it's going to be more about different players stepping up in different games according to matchups to exploit. i think it was more important last season for odom to score 15+ than it is this year.
