My guess is that Griff asked Wallace to "co-chair" the meeting. Something like, "Big Ben, I think we need to have another players meeting. I called the last one, but I'm averaging under 7 minutes, so can you give a brother a little help?"
Until the actual truth is more important to you than what you believe, you will never recognize the truth.

If Wallace really is trying to be more of a veteran leader/voice in the locker room, wouldn't that be a good thing? He has shown more consistent effort on the floor since Boylan replaced Skiles, even if that effort and the results still aren't where we nmight want/need them to be.
I still wish one of the younger veterans would step up to take this role. Instead of bashing BW, why not question why Hinrich, Deng, Gordon, Nocioni and/or Duhon seem so reluctant to do stuff like call players only meetings?

I thought his role on the team was to draw double-teams in the post??
He's a dual threat.
I still have nightmares about that 5 minute sequence.

The last "players only" meeting didn't exactly result in a long winning streak. These players have to STOP all the talking and PLAY some basketball the way they know how.
Maybe the players only meeting is players complaing about the coaching staff. The last one was held before Skiles got fired. hmmmmmm???...

I just think we're at the brink of the youth movement and as a vet you don't want to see that happen, that means less playing time and probably trades.
We're almost to a new beginning.
Here's a thought vets... you guys should have been doing this stuff earlier in the year instead having Paxson basically giving them a deadline to turning it around. It's a desperation move by the vets.

Wallace needs to hold another players' only meeting to discuss why Wallace threw the ball away and then stood there and watched as Johnson lined up a three pointer, smoked a cigarette, called his mom, then sank the three.
There was another Bulls player there as well (not sure who).
Maybe be less worried about Noah and do your own job, Benjamin? I don't know, just brain storming.

Yeah, to say the least. Looks like we've got some vets (to remain nameless) trying to protect their territory.
Reminds me of the last job I had. Old people trying to protect their old ways, when younger people had some good skills & ideas that need to be implemented.
Unfortunately in the NBA, they can't just quit their job, start their own franchise & make more money like you can (and I did) in the free market.
I can't take much more of this. The other day against philly when we had the young bigs playing together with 2 guards, I was so excited. Guess that was just a tease by the coaching staff.

I think Big Ben has discovered that at this time he can ensure his playing time by sucking up to the interim coach. Kind of clever really on his part.
I'm sure Wally Pip would have voted to suspend Lou Gherig.
bentheredengthat, great post. I'm sure what Noah did was not good, but this doesn't pass the smell test.
I do expect Wallace to also call a players' only layup drill meeting.
