That's a significantly better rebuilding deal for Miami.
1) We keep Cook
2) We get a young big
3) We get a large expiring
4) We don't have to take back Battie
And so forth. While Turk is a better player than anything in that Dallas deal combined, he's a win-now player. And he's not someone that we'd want if we were trading Shaq. I think the problem here is that you're equating the skill level of these players with their trade value, which is almost never the case. If we're trading Shaq, it's to rebuild.

Flash and I rarely seem to agree, but I certainly do agree with this.

Incorrect.
You trade Shaq for nothing, you have to trade Wade.

Sorry, I must have missed something. Why again do we have to trade Wade?
And we're not trading Shaq for nothing per se. We're trading him for Diop. Rebuilding does not mean completely firesale the team. It means that you make moves which set you up for the future, like trading for expiring contracts, acquiring draft picks, and trading for young players while keeping your franchise player. You don't trade guys like Wade. You build around them.

And $20 million in cap space. It's not nothing.
Given a choice between dealing with Dallas for KVH and doing your deal, I'm taking Dallas 10 times out of 10.
Hedo, Reddick, and Battie aren't exactly keeping Wade around if he wants to leave.

Theoretically Wade could walk in 2010, by which time, we would be rebuilt through the draft this year, and free agency (we'd have max capspace the year he could walk so we could sign another max FA that year). So, he wouldn't have to wait to contend. I could see him going to Chicago, but no where else would be more apealing to Wade than a rebuilt Miami. Not to mention the fact that he's a Sporting God down here. Only Marino holds more clout.
So basically you're saying we should trade Wade because he could potentially walk? That's terrible reasoning.

They are too simular and would clog the lane. We need a big next to Dwight who can at least step out and hit a jumper. We need Haslem, not Shaq.

Wouldn't expect anything less from you BBF...
You're obviously not getting my point, and considering the way you're arguing thus far, it doesn't surprise me. Their's no incentive for us to take Hedo and Battie. None. They're not difference makers, and they're signed long term.
So, what's the incentive for Miami?
Are we gaining copious amounts of cap space? Not compared to the Dallas deal.
Are we getting a blue chip prospect? JJ Reddick? I don't think he's a better prospect than Daequan Cook. Not even better than Chris Quinn.
Miami is much better off with the Dallas deal. We keep Cook and Quinn and we end up with $32 million in committed salaries going into next season. I don't know how you can possibly argue that your deal is better. Seriously, is ridiculous! If we're trading Shaq, and these two deals are on the table, then we're hanging up on Orlando, quickly...
