WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE JAZZ:
They upgrade the 2G position dramatically with this deal. Carter, when healthy, is a force on the perimeter and capable of averaging 20+ppg. He's not the supreme dunker of years past, but he's still an all-star caliber guard.

PF-Boozer/Millsap

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE NETS:
They get the inside scoring presence they need in Curry. He could post career numbers playing alongside a pure PG like Kidd. Richardson would be a decent replacement for Carter at the 2G position.

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE KNICKS:
They improve their defense and shot blocking with this deal. I think Kirilenko would truly benefit from a change in scenery. This also ends the glut in the post between Z-Bo and Curry. Randolph will now have plenty of room to post 25+ppg down low. Collins is simply a servicable rebounder/defender.

This deal was a lot more likely over the summer, as it stands AK47 has been much better, and Curry has been worse than past versions.

I doubt the Nets would be too crazy about trading away their declining, but still useful spectacular SG for two guys on pretty bad contracts, with Q-Rich being a good player but injury-prone and Curry having a pretty bad season. He may be a good scorer, but 5,3 rebounds and 0,6 blocks per game don't sound too tempting, especially for a guy signed until 2011 earning 9 millions this year on an increasing contract.

Well some may argue that by having the low post offense soley to himself and playing with a point guard the caliber of Jason Kidd would be enough to improve his play enough that he at least matches his production last year. Jason Kidd is considered a great point guard for a reason.

Not saying Kidd isn't a great PG, but this deal would see the Nets taking on a lot of salary and contract years in two players who would definitely both be risky.
Furthermore it would leave them pretty thin at the SG spot since if Q would get injured again (not too unlikely) there would only be Antoine Wright left. I also think that Curry doesn't fit in as the strong post defender the Nets could use.

Jazz can't particularly afford to trade defence for offence at the moment. And Carter's work ethic under Sloan's demands would be kill-or-cure, no question. Jazz pass.

For the Nets the bigger concern is Q. He's been pretty much attrocious this year. IMHO Curry would do great with Kidd getting him the ball on the move where Curry is pretty much almost impossible to stop. What Curry gets in trouble is if he has to wait and wait and wait for the ball to be passed into the post (as is often the case in NY) and teams triple. That's when he starts dipping his shoulder and getting called for offensive fouls. If he gets the ball while he's moving to the basket, and Curry has great hands, he's pretty near impossible to defend considering how agile he is with the ball in his hands and him around the basket. So far with the Bulls and the Knicks Curry really has been forced to constantly deal with the double/triple teams and rarely gets any easy looks or passes. That would greatly be reduced with Kidd getting no look passes to him on the run (and yes, contrary to popular opinion, Curry is very quick for his size especially when a chance to score offers itself up).

me too, Jazz pass particularly if we have to throw Brewer into the deal as well. I'd much rather have the Brewer / Korver sg tandem and AK anchoring the d than to have Carter on the team soaking up a lot of salary as a 2nd-4th option on the team.

Utah isn't interested in the OP, mostly because we give up our best defender for Vince. Adding Brewer, our starting SG and SECOND best defender, for Fred Jones makes it absolutely unthinkable.

I'm not saying UTA would do my revision of the deal. I'm simply saying it would take Brewer to even out the deal from a pure value perspective. NYK gets a good deal, but it's not nearly as good as how Utah does. As Isaiah can tell you, though, "good deals" don't always result in a better team.
