David West: The BEST least talked about player.

Post#1 » by KG_And1 » Sun Jan 13, 2008 10:54 pm

David West. No, I am not making this name up. There is this guy that plays PF for the New Orleans Hornets. He's pretty good too. His name is David West, you've probably heard of him...maybe.

This guy has got to be the best player NOBODY is talking about.

Pretty much a 20/10 guy. I don't even think Hornets fans know this guy plays for them. This guy is so low-key. In fact, I just found about about him 2 days ago.

He is a great player, but also probably has the least impact of anyone putting up those kind of stats.

....and what would we talk about?

"Holy ****! Did you see that 12 foot J that west hit?"

"Whoah, that was an 18 footer with a hand in his face!"

"Holy cow, look at that rebound! He rebounded it!"

No offense to West, but he puts up his numbers quietly.

He's not unnoticed by any means. But I think his numbers overrate the impact he has on the floor.

He's a very solid PF in the league, but PF is also a very strong position at the moment and he's probably only around the 10th best (though this largely depends whether you put some players at PF or C).

I also attribute a lot of West's success to the presence of Chris Paul. Having a great PG does that to a player (think Kenyon Martin back in NJ). While he has a nice jumper, he also gets a lot of easy and open baskets due to great setups from Paul.

He's like Zach Randolph without the reputation of a thug/lazy player, and Al Jefferson or Aldridge without the youth potential.

Yawn.

He is very very underrated, every time I watch the Hornets, this guy just goes off.
Paul always gets all the props but West is really really good.

He should've beat Diaw for MIP a couple years ago.

he's not the "best least talked about player", but I'd agree he has been underrated for a while now.
