Nellie's odd rotation changes - a little known truth
It can be frustrating to see the odd changes in lineups, and odd rotations used by Nellie. But few realize the bizarre and seemingly stupid is very often being done for a purpose.
In Dallas, one of his closest confidants told me that Nellie loves to play mind games with his lineup and rotations. So he'll throw in something for 5 minutes in one game (even into the starting lineup) with the idea that he will then be forcing opposing coaches to waste precious time preparing for something he has no intention of using again. He doesn't even care if it works or not, only if it is so different it might make future opponents confused.
And if in an interview he says he is trying to develop that odd lineup, he might be telling the truth. Or he might not. Anything is permissible, to confuse the opposition into false expectations.
So if you see something flash by you that you like, don't assume it's intended to be developed further. Or if you see something you hate, don't worry that he's lost his mind irrationally heading in the wrong direction. Often it's just Nellie being Nellie, playing games at a level no one else plays.

Though I find your explanation viable, the real issue is lack of a backup big man for the squad. If Harrington and Dre both need a rest/foul trouble, who do you bring in (Don't say POB.... side note: Nellie must of felt bad for him missing the garbage time in Portland and only brought him in this game because of that). There really are no backup bigs... I think Nellie would like to run Al + Dre at the same time if he could

POB not being road tested is a self inflicted wound on Nellie's part. Watson-fresh off the D bus...plays ,we Groom a #9 pick (if you believe that..) and yet he's fit for just blowout minutes?
The Nelly-think on POB has been irrational-and counterproductive. However.....that's part of the package and should not be a surprise. when we NEED to have depth at C.....we are screwed. Nellie is still Nellie and still has his mix of brilliance and baffling stubborness.
Whatever. The W's strategy is to let Nellie in his imperfect, quirky way, forge a team that wins often. Realistically-he won't get us to the promised land. We have to be content with Nellie getting us in sight of the target. So it goes. Nellie's idiosynchrancies are too substantial for us to run the playoff gauntlet. We are just too dependant on a gimmick that the elite teams will adapt to. Nevertheless-we are making progress toward the upper levels. Nellie is not here long term, about when his contribution maxes out is about when he retires. The NEXT guy.........ideally.....adds the missing links. I'd hope Mullin bears that in mind and when we move into the post Nellie era-we have the resources to take the next step.

So lets not try to make the playoffs and start developing players. POB at this point will not help us win games, and that's what it's all about. This is Feed The Beast part 2. Same hype that Diogu was getting because he wasn't getting much playing time and people thought he was the savior. Enough is enough with the complaining. Every single game thread when Warriors win turns into the bitch fest about how much time POB or Wright got.
Every year people on this board get behind some cause and run with it all year, I guess in order not get bored. This year it's a conspiracy to keep down POB like it was the conspiracy to keep down Diogu last year.
The fact is that POB doesn't play well defensively and gets his assignments wrong. On offense he's not much help either. Nelson is preparing for a playoff run and that's why he'd rather give playing time to Cro to get into shape because he has a better chance of contributing this year.

Show me how stupid I am and how stupid Don Nelson and Chris Mullin are...you big bunch of geniuses
Way to miss the point Nick..

The point is, you can't answer that either. No one here can... not even Nelson and Mullin can, and the only reason why is because they give him no significant burn.
But what makes THIS judgement by Mulson correct when they were in

No rhyme or reason to it all...

Yeah, Nelson and Mullin have no way to evaluate a player they've been staring at every day the entire season and for a large part of last season.
But, you and the other geniuses here know enough to contradict them after watching him play for like 15 minutes over 10 games of garbage time.
Absolutely brilliant.
BTW, with Yi and Mullin/Nelson, I'm not convinced that they actually liked him. If Nellie did like him, why would he tell Del Harris to draft him?
Rhyme+Reason...catch the wave!! Stop supporting pastry chef lotto busts!

So Nick, only your snap judgements (Yi) are actually legitimate... good to know...
No one here is (seriously) saying that POB is going to be a stud, or even a good player. They say he deserves a lot better of a chance than he is currently being given.
But questioning the great Mulson? Blasphemy! They made us a #8 seed and a footnote in NBA Playoffs Trivia History!

You and the rest of the buffoons are claiming that there is some sort of hidden agenda against POB and that this is the reason why he isn't playing. As if his ability has nothing to do with it.
It's just completely ridiculous.
BTW, I think that LF and Rowell are a bad influence on you. The negative, controversial guy approach doesn't fit you.

There's no hidden agenda... Nellie has no clue what to do with PF/Cs. They are only useful if they can shoot a 3... its a constant with all Nellie teams.
POB is a traditional long big man, with a midrange and not much else offensively right now. Nellie has no idea what to do with that... so he's history.
